Necromancer Garris, or simply Garris, is a minor antagonist and an optional and secret boss in the 2022 Dark Fantasy RPG-Action video game Elden Ring. He is a heretical necromancer and sage, who had discovered an ancient and long-lost hex related to Death Sorcery.
Biography[]
Garris used to have a family of his own, which consists of a wife and two daughters. However, they died from unknown causes. This tragedy presumably drove Garris, who was enraged over the deaths, to turn to the dark arts and necromancy. He somehow acquired a staff that is said to be part of the Prince of Death (formerly known as Godwyn the Golden), which became his signature staff.
Garris eventually became a heretic as well, due to augmenting his sorceries through faith, aside from Intelligence, which is what sorcerers at the Academy of Raya Lucaria relied on.
At some point, Garris discovered an ancient death sorcery-related hex that is believed to have been lost a long time ago, as Death Sorcery was created in ancient times until Queen Marika the Eternal's age, in which she founded the Golden Order, whose principles involves putting the dead to rest and forbidding the use of death sorcery hexes.
