Gartor is a minor antagonist in the 2003 film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He was an orc captain known for his successful raids and habit of stealing from dead corpses.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Gartor was an Uruk-Hai living in Mordor. Though not as tall and brutish as his brothers, Gartor made a reputation for successfully leading orcs to victory during raids. Sauron noticed this and promoted him to captain. Gartor was a very rash captain who enjoyed killing alongside his soldiers. He also had a habit to loot corpses of valuables during and after battles.
Taking Osgiliath[]
In the War of The Ring, Gartor was in charge of leading the Orcs' soldiers on a raid in the ruined city of Osgiliath. Gartor was successful in taking the ruined city. He had recently taken a Gondorian soldier’s armor, shield, and sword, fancying the enemy's equipment.
Siege of Minas Tirith and Demise[]
Having marched with Gothmog's soldiers from Minas Morgul, Gartor was placed in charge of infiltrating the city of Minas Tirith. He led his soldiers in the battle but was slain when he tried to loot a carcass.
