Garv is the overarching antagonist of the Why Am I Dead indie video game duology, being the overarching of Why Am I Dead: Rebirth and one of two main antagonists of Why Am I Dead: At Sea sequel. He is a resident of the Douce Amere cruise ship who is secretly a human trafficker, using Ferdinand to carry out the murders.
Biography[]
Garv was married and had a daughter but got divorced at some point in his life and did not take it well. According to himself, he had business in Ontario. Once his business took a bad turn, however, all of his friends and especially wife turned on him, causing Garv to lose his trust in humans. In the present, he is accompanied by his cat, Sunshine as well as his parrots.
Eventually, he became the head of a crime ring and used a human trafficking network disguised as a cruise ship. When the captain, Smilla was getting to close, he ordered Frederick to shoot her. Knowing the residents would catch on to this, he manipulated the scene so Frederick would take the fall. He and the rest of the crewmates are later interrogated by Donavan. Whether he successfully gets away with the crime depends on the player. If he gets away with it, he presumably continues his crimes, trying to recruit Marcurio to his organization.
Personality[]
At first glance, Garv seems like a friendly old man who enjoys spending time with his pets. In actuality, he is a selfish crime lord who feels no guilt about harming anybody in his way, even children. He also has no care for his underlings, since he felt nothing when two of them died and was planning to pin the blame of Smilla's murder on Ferdinand completely. He seems to have a hatred towards humans, viewing them as awful since they turned on him in the past when he wasn't rich anymore.
