Biography[]
Past[]
As mentioned by Officer Adam Ruzek, the brothers hailed from Gary, Indiana and have a notorious reputation in drug dealing, manslaughter, and assault. Regardless, they acted as a good team and cared for each other. At some point, they and fellow criminal Blue approach Evan Lormer, a Public Defender and showed him there was more to be gained from a life of crime. Lormer was convinced and agreed to aid them in exchange for some of the cut. With him on their side, they were able to evade prison time because of him falsifying documents to get them sentenced to probation or community service, while Lormer stayed under the radar as a drug kingpin.
The brothers acted as dealers/enforcers, making sure the drugs got distributed while making a hefty sum from it. Several of those people who they gave drugs to died, but they didn't care.
"Called In Dead"[]
After the theft of their drugs and Blue's arrest, Lormer supplied the brothers with the address of Det. Alvin Olinsky, one of the arresting officers. The two broke in Olinsky's home, where they took his wife Meredith captive. When Olinsky returned home, he found his wife tied to a chair and held at gunpoint by the brothers, who told him they want their drugs back because it was worth a large amount and demanded that he retrieve it, or his wife dies. Olinsky agreed and Jamal drove him to the precinct while his brother stayed with Meredith to ensure they have leverage. Jamal showed the detective a text that his brother was awaiting and if he warned anyone, she dies and ordered him to get back the drugs.
After Olinsky returned with the drugs, Jamal was pleased but was unprepared for the detective to have gotten a gun from inside and shoot him dead. Notifying his team of the situation, the police gathered outside the home and Olinsky sent Jesse the text from his brother's phone and Jesse was prepared to kill Meredith as a loose end, but Sgt. Hank Voight confronted him and ordered him to drop his weapon. Surprised, Jesse immediately asked about his brother and was ready to shoot Meredith after he was implied to be dead, but Olinsky snuck up on him and placed a gun to his neck, threatening to shoot if he carried it out. Boxed in by both cops, he complied with their orders and got on his knees but got scared after Voight stated, "he doesn't have to walk outta here" and suggested that they deal with him now. Olinsky appeared tempted after what the brothers put him through, but his distraught wife told him not to and Jesse was spared though punished with a kick to the gut by Voight for his actions.
A cuffed Jesse was hauled in, while being berated by Voight for his and brother's stupidity for threatening a cop and his wife. Jesse attempted to retort but got slammed into a cell gate and was sat next to a detained Blue. Olinsky questioned how the thugs found his home, but no clear answer was given except that they had help. Seeing the criminals were connected, Voight has the cuffed Blue hauled off to holding. Jesse is interrogated on who tipped him off but gave no answer. Olinsky proceeded to talk with him, remarking on how his brother was now among his list of officers involved shootings. He tells the Jesse that no matter how tough he is, he will talk soon. Despite his silent fear and anger, he doesn't budge and is left in the cage.
Soon Intelligence ran his fingerprints and learned the history of the brothers and it was noted along with Blue that the Gary brothers should have been put have been put in prison years ago. They soon uncovered that a law official had falsified documents to keep them and likely has been acting as a mole, with it noted by Olinsky they would have access to arrest documents signed by him, explaining how they found his house. Intelligence soon discover Lormer's involvement and find him with the incriminating evidence, stripping the gangsters of their protection.
Jesse is then imprisoned for life, along with his conspirators.
