Gary North is a fictional character and supporting antagonist of the long-running British soap opera Emmerdale, specifically appearing as a major antagonist in 2014.

He was portrayed by Fergus O'Donnell.

Biography

Gary North was known to be a notorious drug lord who operated his criminal activities in Emmerdale.

In 2014, Gary arrived in the village to track down local career criminal Ross Barton after the latter stole money from him. Gary later arranges for Ross' younger brother, Finn, to be hospitalised and for their older sibling Pete to be stalked as a warning. Eventually Gary lures Ross into a trap by tricking his roommate Andy Sugden into letting him inside their house under the pretense of being Ross' close friend. When Ross finds out that Gary is responsible for his brothers' recent incidents, he attacks him until Gary threatens to target Ross' father James as well. Gary then threatens to endanger Ross' lover Debbie Dingle alongside her parents, Cain and Charity, as well unless Ross repays his debt by working for him. Ross is therefore forced to back down and Gary leaves.

It is then Gary finds himself under investigation from local policeman Donna Windsor, and he in turn threatens to harm her daughter April unless she and Ross collaborate with his activities. They initially do so but then attempt to bring him down at a carpark. Gary threatens to have them killed but Donna instead subdued Gary and kills him in a suicide by dropping them to their deaths in the car park.
