Gary Philo is the minor antagonist of The Mentalist TV-show. He is a CEO of a company, turned out to be a killer. He was played by Craig Sheffer.
Biography[]
Teresa Lisbon's team is called in to investigate another murder. Matilda Cruz, a company employee and Shakespeare fan, has been murdered. After talking to Matilda's boss, Gary Philo, who is giving a briefing, Teresa's team consultant Patrick Jane quickly realizes that Gary himself may have killed Matilda. During the conversation, Gary attacks Teresa, for which he is immediately arrested. While Patrick Jane is investigating another murder, Teresa's team tries to get Gary to talk. Patrick believes that Gary is acting so brazenly during interrogation because he believes there is no evidence against him, so he advises his colleagues to find it as soon as possible. One of Teresa's team agents, Wayne Rigsby, tries to hypnotize Gary, but, unlike Patrick, he has no skills in this, so Gary quickly figures out what Wayne wanted to do. Later, Gary's DNA is taken to then be compared with the DNA found under Matilda's fingernails. However, the police are soon forced to release Gary, as no evidence against him has been found. Gary threatens Wayne with legal action against the CBI. Meanwhile, Patrick Jane returns to the office after a successful investigation and catches Gary being familiar with Shakespeare's plays (even though when Wayne interrogated him, Gary claimed not to be familiar). Wayne takes Gary back to the interrogation room for a second interrogation. What happened to Gary afterwards is unknown. It is likely that he was convicted of murder after all.
