Hellman: Kiss.
Garza: With tongue.
~ Garza and Hellman forcing Maria Ruiz and Gloria Mendoza to kiss for their own sadistic enjoyment.

D. Garza is a minor antagonist in season six of the Netflix prison dramedy Orange is the New Black. He is a Correctional Officer at Litchfield Penitentiary's Maximum Security division who shares as Greg Hellman's sadistic treatment of the inmates.

He is portrayed by Alex Escola.

Physical Appearance[]

Garza is seen wearing the traditional CO uniform of a light-blue shirt with his name sewed in white, black trousers and black boots. He is a Caucasian man with brown hair, thick eyebrows and has a strong jawline.

Personality[]

Garza acts as Hellman's subordinate. Though he is less vocal than Hellman, he clearly shares the same ideology of treating the female inmates as lesser. He fetishises them as seen by his treatment of inmates Gloria Mendoza and Maria Ruiz.

Biography[]

Garza appears in the season six premiere episode "Who Knows Better Than I", which takes place after the 3-day riot in season five. During the riot, Maria Ruiz and Gloria Mendoza are kept separated in Administrative Segregation. When they are given their allocated recreation time, they are instructed to walk around the room for 45-minutes at a brisk pace, but not able to run.

During the riot, Gloria had intended to release the hostages in order to see her son, Benny, who had been hospitalised. When Gloria told Maria this, Maria released them instead, creating huge animosity between the two. As Maria and Gloria begin their walks around the room, Gloria speeds up to reach Maria. Gloria lunges at Maria and starts to fight her, but Garza and Hellman restrain them.

To punish the pair, Hellman and Garza shackle them to the showers and spray them with hoses. They demand that they forgive each other, where Garza tells tells the two to kiss. Maria and Gloria object to his, but Hellman and Garza demand it. Maria and Gloria oblige and kiss very briefly, but Garza tells them to do so with tongue, which they oblige to, to the perverted delight of Garza and Hellman.

Garza is not seen for the rest of the series after this.
