Gator Purify death

Gator Purify is a character in the 1991 drama film Jungle Fever. He is the crack-addicted brother of Flipper Purify, the film's protagonist.

He was portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, who also played Greg Meeker in White Sands, Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction, Carl Lee Hailey in A Time to Kill, Ordell Robbie in Jackie Brown, Elijah Price in Unbreakable and Glass, John Mills in Twisted, Frank Tenpenny in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Derrick Vann in The Man, Roland Cox in Jumper, Officer Abel Turner in Lakeview Terrace, Octopus in The Spirit, Stephen in Django Unchained, Chaney in Oldboy, Richmond Valentine in Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mr. Barron in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Preston Packard in Kong: Skull Island and Marcus Banks in Spiral: From the Book of Saw.

History[]

At some point in his history, he became addicted to crack.

During the film, he repeatedly pesters his brother for money to buy drugs. Eventually, Flipper confronts him in a drug den over stealing his mother's TV in order to sell it for money and buy weed with it. Flipper is so angry that he cuts off the supply of money he pays Gator in order to help him buy crack. This sends Gator over the edge, prompting him to go down to his parent's house to ask Mrs. Purify (his mother) for money. Gator attempts to convince Mrs. Purify to give him money before eventually snapping and beginning to ransack the place. When he tries to attack his father, as there appears to be a mutual dislike between the two, Mr. Purify pulls a gun and shoots Gator in the stomach, causing him to bleed out in his mother's arms. Mr. Purify expresses no remorse for his son's death.
