What orders from Mordor, my lord? What does the eye command?
~ Gazmog to Saruman.
The trees are strong, my lord. Their roots go deep.
~ Gazmog to Saruman.

Gazmog is a minor antagonist in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, being a minor antagonist in both The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. He was an orc taskmaster and one of Saruman's most trusted captains.

Biography[]

Travel to Isengard[]

An orc of Mordor, Gazmog was sent by Sauron to Isengard to assist Saruman. Gazmog awaited orders from Saruman, whom declared that in order to create a new army, they would need fuel.

Cutting Down the Trees[]

Saruman declared that the fuel would be trees on the edge of Isengard. Gazmog was in charge of cutting down the trees. He and his men realized the trees were strong. When Gazmog tried to tell Saruman, he ignored him and told him to continue to cut down the trees.

Fanghorn Forest, Attack In Isengard, and Death[]

Gazmog and crew built a lumber camp outside of Fanghorn Forest, as instructed by another orc named Flizpot, to cut down as many trees as possible. This led to the siege of Isengard and the deaths of Gazmog, Hodhvarz, and his men.
