The General is the main antagonist in the 2020 mexican animated film A Costume for Nicolas by Fotosintesis Media.
He was voiced by Carlos Segundo.
Appearance[]
He is a tall, robust man, with white skin and a thick dark grey mustache and beard. He always wears a high-ranking military uniform that has colors such as mustard yellow, brown, grey and red. Likewise, he has the shield of his kingdom (which resembles a canine or feline paw print) on both his hat and a Medallion.
Personality[]
He is a man concerned about the safety of his kingdom, and can make drastic decisions regardless of the consequences they entail. Likewise, he does not allow others to think differently than him or correct him.
However, behind that cold and calculating personality, there is a guy who seeks the well-being of his family and appreciates them with all his soul.
Biography[]
Although he does not appear physically, his figure is seen in Ana's puppet theatre, when the girl tells Nicolas the story of the deal the man made with the mysterious wizard and his dragon that devours nightmares.
Later, he is in his office when Matias tells him about the escape of Ana, his niece. He tells her that this girl does not know what she is doing, and that peace in the kingdom depends on the deal he made, so he orders him to bring her back. Before Matías leaves, he tells him that he already knows who to call and will reward him for his services, to which he gives him a gold coin, sending him to the tavern. When Matias asks him if he is sure about calling the outlaw, he replies that he perfectly understands the background.
After Matias and his knights recovered Ana and captured Pirate Jonah, Laughter, Monkey Richie and the walking house, he argues with his niece about what happened. When the girl reproaches him for having let them take her younger sister, he assures her that it is not so easy to believe. He adds that if he breaks the deal, war will return. When Ana tells him that this is more important than abandon his niece, He replies that the welfare of a kingdom is more important than his own suffering. Seeing her cry, he ends up telling her that one day she will understand.
Not realizing that Nicholas and David were under the girl's bed, He sees Ana again to tell her that perhaps they had started off on the wrong foot. When he hears strange sounds, he is convinced by the girl that it was his bugle. The General suggests they have dinner so they can talk and sort things out. Afterwards, he leaves the room again.
However, when the children try to escape, he discovers them and tells them that he knew he couldn't trust her.
When the protagonists manage to escape from the cell again, they arrive at where Ana and her uncle are having dinner. He tries to manipulate her into not going with them, but fails and screams her name.
Cornering them again, he yells at the children that they are not going anywhere, and calls out to Ana. When Ana discovers that Nicholas has no more costumes left, she tells them that's enough. He looks furious as Nicolas is given a dragon helmet and a bubble with a roar, so he calls Ana again. After the little boy summons a gigantic dragon, he orders his knights to kill it. However, she sees her niece leaving for the mysterious wizard's castle with David and Nicolas. Still, he manages to sneak onto the dragon's tail to travel to the same place.
While Nicolás goes for Sofía, the General tries to attack David and Ana, but the mysterious wizard arrives to intervene. He tells the sorcerer that it is time to put an end to that, but it is of no use because the deal falls apart and nightmares take over the kingdom. Seeing what he has caused, he is dismayed. There, she reveals to his nieces that his sister had been taken by the war, and all he sought was the good of his kingdom. He is forgiven by his nieces, and both Pirate Jonas and Laughter agree to be at his disposal. He hugs Ana and Sofia tightly, completely happy. He is shocked when the mysterious wizard reveals himself to be a female witch. He is seen proud of little Sofia when she leaves with Monkey Richie and Ana in the walking house. Then he sees the sorceress (who is called Vida) disappear like petals.
The General is seen during the credits, next to the Mysterious Wizard.
