General Carter is a major villain from the video game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness.
Personality[]
Carter has a genuine lust for power. He sought to use his foster daughter's special abilities to meet his own goals. He is also very rude, gruff, violent, disloyal, and traitorous, as he was willing to sacrifice Gordon, his special soldier, to gain access to the Netherworld.
Biography[]
General Carter is the leader of the Earth Defence Force, a military force that controls a vast amount of the Earth and is tasked with protecting it and its future. When the Earth began to suffer from the lack of natural resources and overpopulation, General Carter tried to come up with a plan when he was visited by an angel named Vulcanus who told him about the Netherworld, saying that it could become his species new home if he could defeat the demons inhabiting it and the Overlord.
Carter would plan for this by sending the Defenders of Earth, a group of three heroes to the Netherworld to kill them after tricking them into believing that he had heard that the Overlord was planning to invade Earth. After they were sent to the Netherworld, Carter would hear from them again, leading him to think that the Overlord had killed them all. This didn't matter to Carter however since all he needed was the Defenders of Earth to travel to the Netherworld as a way to open a dimensional gate so the Earth Defence Force could invade on their giant battleship.
Before the Earth Defence Force fully invaded, Carter would send Kurtis to retrieve his daughter Jennifer from the surviving Defenders of Earth, leaving the other two to die alongside the Overlord, however, Overlord Laharl would prove too much for the Earth Defence Force and would tear through their fleet of ships.
In the end, Carter would escape in an escape pod but not before being confronted by Mid-Boss who warned Carter that his conscience would catch up to him one day and would never allow him to be at peace, at the same time, Carter would realise that he was just a pawn being used by the angels as he flew back to Earth.
