General Krang is the overarching antagonist of the 2019 BOOM! Studios/IDW crossover comic series, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He serves as the overarching antagonist of the first crossover and later as the main antagonist of the second crossover.
He is an alien warlord who has successfully annihilated Dimension X's Earth and Power Rangers, who were this dimension's Turtles, with intentions of taking over the original Earth of both the Rangers and the Turtles. He was the (former) ally of the Shredder, with whom he shared information of the Power Rangers' existence, and later betrayed him in favor of Rita Repulsa.
Biography[]
Little is known about Krang's history, however, it's stated that he had once and successfully wiped out Dimension X's version of Earth and personally killed his versions of the Power Rangers, who were also the Turtles back then, keeping their broken morphers as trophies. As described by the Shredder himself, upon using his war machine to invade the Earth, he turned what was left of it into a dystopian-like era where no human being is seen in sight. Then at that point, he and the Shredder met up at an unknown period but gave him information about the Power Rangers and their existence, fueling his desire to obtain that power in exchange for the Shredder giving him his "limbs and arms" as promised.
Then it is likely after the defeat of the Shredder and Rita teleporting to Dimension X with her to be introduced to General Krang, the latter then decides to replace him with Rita as her right hand and later hatches a plot to conquer and enslave the Earth of the original universe. To do that, he and Rita gathered all of the latter's minions and the Turtles' past enemies from Karai, Leatherhead, Slash, and Baxter Stockman, though Karai declined the offer due to her devoted loyalty to Shredder and willingly chose to be imprisoned. Then at some point when recruiting Karai, Krang captured Casey Jones, one of the Turtles' allies, and ended up torturing him for information about the Turtles but never gave in. Unfortunately, he had Casey witnessed his massive army combined with Rita's forces had forced him into working for him as his own personal Power Ranger, Ranger X.
Krang would be seen with Casey in his stronghold, discussing about the original morphers of the Dimension X Rangers and how they don't work anymore due to killing them when they rise against him in battle, though was lucky enough to know Casey was capable of using his morpher and having to learn the Rangers' secrets. Then Krang would start questioning Casey's decision to turn against his allies, only to receive the answer from the former that playing "hero" would only get him this far, then orders him to kneel to prove his loyalty, which Casey did before he left to discuss with Rita alone. When Rita brought up about locating the Shredder, Krang reassures her that she should worry about her warriors mainly since Krang believed the Shredder won't elude forever.
Later on, he has Rita and their army of her monsters and the Turtles' enemies wreak havoc within the streets of New York while having Casey, accompanied by Scorpina, Bebop, and Stockman, infiltrate the Command Center to steal the power node used to run the Morphin Grid, thus successfully stolen by Casey and Stockman as it left the Rangers' morphing abilities to be severed. Once the Rangers retreated from the battle, General Krang appears in his body suit, impressed that he now has full control over the Command Center and all of its secrets, especially when he mentioned how he failed to take over the one from Dimension X when it was destroyed. When Casey and Rita questioned his motives to only conquering Earth instead of using everything he now has to conquer multiple dimensions and planets, Krang justifies that Earth is primitive and that it's still eons behind other lifeforms outside the planet before explaining his plans to conquer it would benefit Earth to become more advanced.
For the past three days, Krang and Rita's forces continued bringing in more soldiers and continue wreaking havoc to the point it becomes a full-scale invasion, not just Angel Grove but the whole Earth's populace. Meanwhile, as the Rangers became mutants to take down what's left of Krang and Rita's forces while the Turtles and Shredder travel to Dimension X, Krang has been busy modifying the Zords, dismantling them and having them taken apart to fuse into what he has in mind for both the Rangers and the Turtles, which earlier he had captured and enslaved people to do construction work over the Zords. He then orders Rita to block out the Rangers' teleporting and escaping routes through both Traag and Stockman, then he orders to have Casey to be taken care of through Rita herself, which was to brainwash him forcibly and it's revealed the invasion will scale all the way to even larger cities, including countries like Shanghai, London, Mexico City, and even New York till they surrender.
After the Mutant Rangers took care of the soldiers, Krang appears before them, this time in his finalized Megazord suit, and taunts them that their world will be extinct soon. Just as soon as Shredder arrives and summons the DragonZord, along with Zordon and Alpha 5 piloting Metalhead, to finally settle matters with Krang, the latter proceeds to battle both the robots while taunting Zordon if he is ready to be one with the Morphin Grid, when Zordon refuses to back down from a fight, Krang then assures that he'll bury him alive in the very city of Angel Grove before continuing his fight with the Shredder. In spite of their efforts, Krang manages to take down the DragonZord and Metalhead using his blast cannon and pins them down for the killing blow on Shredder, Zordon, and Alpha 5.
However, the Mutant Rangers attacked Krang as a distraction as this allowed time for Shredder and Zordon to fuse the Zords to make the Dragon TurtleZord, successfully ripping out Krang's Megazord suit limb by limb as only then he cowardly tries to negotiate a deal with Shredder, only to fall on deaf ears as he is finally defeated. Krang is last seen with Rita as he is to be punished for his crimes, which he and Rita will be sealed away in hibernation modules till they are no longer a threat, before being sealed, Krang swore revenge on the Shredder even if this will take a thousand years before his fate was sealed.
