General Shifter is a is a major antagonist in Power Rangers RPM. He was one of the four generals under the command of the Venjix Computer Virus and the Venjix Computer Network. He was created by Venjix to be one of his top generals and commanders of his robotic army, along with General Crunch, Kilobyte and Tenaya 7.
Just like his fellow generals and commanders, Shifter helped his master Venjix numerous times with his plans of world domination, destroying Corinth city and wiping out the remaining humans in the city. Shufter was also one of the Ranger Operator's archenemies and one of their most powerful and dangerous enemies. Shifter was eventually betrayed by his master, after Tenaya 7 framed him and he was banished near the finale of the season, before eventually fighting the Rangers for the final time and being destroyed by Scott.
He was voiced by Mark Mitchinson, who also later voiced Trickster and Armadeevil in Power Rangers Samurai, Creepox in Power Rangers Megaforce and Boomtower and Boomblaster in Power Rangers Dino Fury.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Shifter was created by Venjix before the events of the season, when the evil computer virus started conquering the world. Venjix needed loyal military officers and commanders for his army and so he created Shifter, Crunch and Kilobyte to his top generals and officers of his robotic army of Grinders and Attack Bots. Venjix created Shifter and put him, alongside Crunch, in charge of the robotic army of Grinders and Attack Bots.
Shifter and Crunch helped and assisted their master for a two years and after the two years of conquest, billions of humans were exterminated with only a small city of Corinth in Boston-Massachusetts was left, with humans inside protected by the energy shield, a very protective dome and Ranger Operators and so Venjix ordered his generals to create the plans of invading and destroying the city and all remaining surviving remnants if human race.
Power Rangers RPM[]
After Venjix decided that both General Crunch and General Shifter had become obsolete (although this was mostly provoked because their pointing out flaws in Venjix's plans), they were blasted & destroyed by their cruel master. After some time though, both generals were rebuilt and given their positions back in Venjix's evil machine order.
He first fought the Ranger Operators in Episode 10, defeating Scott and proving himself to be a strong fighter. Later on, Shifter helped create bodies for the Venjix Virus to live in. However, the first few were easily defeated by the Rangers with help from the new Rangers Gold and Silver.
Shifter made an enemy out of Tenaya 7 when he supported Kilobyte's attempts to sabotage her. She sabotaged his newest Generation 16 Venjix Mobile Form to attack Venjix, framing Shifter in the process. This led to him being banished into the wastelands. He took his newest creation with him.
He used this new Hyper Bot to scan the Rangers's defenses, take control of the PaleoMax Megazord and fired a control key into Scott himself. However, thanks to a reformed Tenaya 7, the Rangers gain the ability to override his control of the PaleoMax and form the RPM Ultrazord. With it, the multi-colored heroes destroyed the Hyper Bot.
However, Shifter claimed the key to his creation and powered himself up with it in an attempt to defeat the Rangers, including using a mind-controlled Scott against them, but Tenaya 15 foiled that plan by destroying his remote control. Shifter grows to giant size and while he was able to hold them off their Zords for a short time, the Rangers finally formed the RPM Ultrazord, which managed to overpower and defeat the general, causing him to revert to normal size, where an enraged Scott confronted the villain. While able to compete with the Red Ranger in single combat, eventually Scott gains the upper hand of him and destroys Shifter with the Street Saber.
Legacy[]
It was later revealed that Shifter's body was created with titanium shielding, explaining his high durability. Venjix has his remains retrieved and then has Kilobyte recycle his body to be part of his newest mobile form. What was left of Shifter was destroyed along with Venjix's ultimate body when the dome's control tower was dropped on him, although Venjix survived.
