| ~ Geoffrey St. John stealing the crown from Elias Acorn and declaring Ixis Naugus to be the new King of Mobotropolis |
Geoffrey St. John is a major character in Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog series.
He was originally an ally of the Freedom Fighters, but since the disappearance of his wife, had betrayed them after working with Ixis Naugus to become the new king of New Mobotropolis in an attempt to get rid of Elias Acorn.
Appearance[]
Geoffrey is a black-and-white mobian skunk with blue eyes and white hair. He wears bright purplish-pink boots, as well as similarly colored belt/bandolier, gloves and a beret, (even though the beret is not constantly there), as well as a green, sometimes teal or blue, neckerchief.
Later, he wore a similar outfit featuring boots, gloves, and a beret in brown or olive green, with the additions of a closed blue/violet vest, a blue neckerchief and a clear visor. He's occasionally seen wearing a black tuxedo with a black bow-tie and red cummerbund.
Geoffrey's new design makes him have a highly-detailed olive green full-body combat suit, with the visor still intact. However, after betraying his group, Geoffrey would return back to his original attire. His irises have a slight reddish-purple tint while possessed by Ixis Naugus.
As a child, Geoffrey had a simple t-shirt and shorts with boots. He once wore a long, hooded brown cloak with a green clasp at the throat (for unknown reasons). He's also been seen in some sort of green swimming attire and a tan suit with a blue neckerchief. While not often the subject of artistic errors, his hair has once been colored black.
Personality[]
Geoffrey was, for a large chunk of his time, known to be rude, condescending, arrogant, and extremely prideful almost to a fault, despite his loyalty to the Kingdom of Acorn and him being highly trusted by King Maximillian. While egotistical and self-righteous, Geoffrey is more or less driven by a heavily misguided sense of justice rather than anything malicious, although on occasion he does allow his pride to get in the way and make situations worse than intended. He often purported himself to be more grown and overall, more capable than the Freedom Fighters in spite of not having nearly as much of an impact on the war as others, often conflicting with Antoine - whose father he stole credit from - on multiple occasions, and perhaps more infamously, Sonic, who had been the victim of several of Geoffrey's more unpleasant actions such as vying with Sonic over the affections of Sally (as well as being incredibly handsy with her), accusing Sonic of murdering her and nearly killing him himself at one point. This, along with his generally unpleasant attitude, made him unpopular amongst the younger Freedom Fighters.
Unbeknownst to the Freedom Fighters, Geoffrey was secretly a mole for Ixis Naugus, as he believed that Naugus was the best for the kingdom, showing that he also has a poor judge of character, as seen by how he willingly served Ixis Naugus for years and yet never caught onto the fact that he was evil.
Despite his overconfidence, Geoffrey is shown to be self-deprecating, as seen when he caused Elias to run off from the throne due to his poor advice backfiring, and Geoffrey went through the trouble to try and bring him back. Additionally, although he'd been an agent of Ixis Naugus, he recalls that he found a new purpose in life through his marriage with Hershey and temporarily gave up serving Naugus to lead the Royal Secret Service. As such, his cocky mannerisms and competitiveness would begin to relax upon his marriage with Hershey, and he became much more relaxed.
After Hershey's presumed death however, Geoffrey slowly started to unravel, and he returned to attempting to install Naugus as the ruler of the Acorn throne, feeling he had nothing left to live for anymore. However, after finally learning the truth about Naugus, he realized far too late the overall hopelessness of the situation, and wound up spending his last moments being possessed and never being able to make up for his past misdeeds.
Despite his arrogance and brash judgement, Geoffrey does have limits he won't cross. While having a distrust towards robians, he was horrified over the idea of them being killed, and tried to convince King Maximillian to spare them. He also shows a level of respect for his adversaries, seen with how he visited the comatose Antoine after the latter's sacrifice and saluting him.
