Biography[]
Deal with the Black Swans[]
Clements first hires the Black Swans to help make way for a transnational Britgaz pipeline to clear through a Georgian village. Clements first bribes the Georgian militia to vacate the villages, but they keep wasting the money and want more. So, Clements has William Lewis and the Black Swans clear the village through brute force instead, which ensues a massacre that sets the village ablaze, led by Black Swan Grace Lewis. However, the massacre is caught on camera by a little girl who escaped and published it online, which not only meant trouble for the Black Swans, who are required to stand trial for the crimes by the International Criminal Court, but also trouble for PM Atwood and Clements.
Looking through the footage online and discussing about what to do, Atwood and Clements realize that if William takes the stand, he will bring up Clements' and Atwood's involvement, which would bring the both of them down. After considering deporting Lewis, disavowing him, or giving him a Red Notice, they decide to kill William Lewis, Grace Lewis, and the Black Swans by raiding their headquarters, which Clements carries out, personally shooting and killing William. However, Grace managed to escape beforehand while most of the other Black Swans are massacred.
English Channel Hijacking[]
As such, Grace Lewis decides to hijack a train in the English channel heading to Paris with some of her leftover Black Swans and hold all of the passengers hostage. This becomes national news, and Prime Minister Atwood confronts Clements on why Grace is still alive. Clements says that Grace wasn't there when he raided the Black Swan headquarters, thinking someone might've warned her and that he'll find the person who did. Atwood gives Clements full control of managing the situation, ordering him to kill Grace.
With the SAS set up in the tunnel, Clements arrives and orders a team sent in to kill Grace immediately. Major Bisset refuses, saying that is would result in casualties, which gets Clements upset and practically threatens Bisset to go forward with the plan. As such, a battle starts between the Black Swans and SAS forces, which results in several deaths on both sides. Clements blames Bisset for the failure of killing Grace.
Grace then video calls the SAS, demanding a ransom of 500 million euros or the Prime Minister to admit responsibility for the clearing op in Georgia. She agrees to Bisset's demand of letting 100 hostages go for a show of good faith, but has Bisset bring Clements to come and them, with Clements only going in so he can kill her first. When Clements and Bisset arrive in the train to meet Grace, Grace goes back on her deal with Bisset and kills him, which Clements doesn't bat an eye to. Clements then tries to use a broken wine glass to cut Grace's throat, which Grace stops.
Clements and Grace then start discussing about the clearing op in Georgia, during which Clements taunts her over leaving witnesses, saying she should always "kill kids with mobile phones", while Grace threatens to blow up the whole tunnel and everyone else if she doesn't get her ransom. Clements only agrees to the ransom so he can gurantee Grace won't spill any secrets about his involvement before leaving the train. However, Grace secretly gets Clements' engineered confession on camera.
As the situation deterioates, Clements start suspecting that SAS commander Declan Smith is compromised and is Grace's inside man. With the train and all the hostages moving out of the tunnel, Grace secretly escapes and takes Buckingham's girlfriend, Sophie, with her as a hostage wires everyone in her team their cut of the ransom. When the Eurostream train arrives outside of the tunnel, Clements orders Declan to open fire and kill Grace and her cohorts when he has the chance despite promising Grace and her team a safe passage.
As the hostages exit the train, with the Black Swans disguising in with them, Clements has Declan open fire on the hostages in the hopes that some of them are the Black Swans, which luckily works. However, Grace blows up the tunnel anyway, which thankfully doesn't kill any hostages, but the SAS fail to find Grace. Seeing the Grace escaped again, Clements finally realizes that Declan was her inside man and confronts him about it before the tunnel explosion sends an SAS helicopter crashing into the tower he and Declan were in. They survive, albeit being severely injured, with Clements attempting to bargain with Declan to keep him from exposing the truth about the Georgian massacre. Declan refuses, confronting Clements on his selfishness, and threatens to expose Clements before knocking him unconscious and leaving the burned Channel Tunnel.
Aftermath[]
Clements somehow survives and goes hidden after the hijacking is sorted out. Meanwhile, Grace uploads a video onto Youtube after her death, exposing Clements and the Prime Minister for having Georgian villages massacred to make way for the Britgaz pipeline, using Clements' recorded engineered confession as proof of the video, which puts Atwood's political career in turmoil, blaming Declan Smith as well.
Out of petty retaliation, months later, Clements issues a Red Notice on Declan, sending an international manhunt on him and calling Tom to send him after Declan by bribing him with the ransom money Declan got.
Personality[]
Clements is arguably just as sociopathic as the Black Swans he betrays. He has a mixture of low-functioning and high-function traits; he's very arrogant, can barely keep a polite facade, has a high temper, cares for nobody but himself, and openly has no remorse for his actions. However, he fully regards the consequences of his actions and what they mean for him and Atwood. He is also highly intelligent, being able to predict William Lewis' maneuvers when planning to raid the Black Swan headquarters, as well as deducting the best way to keep William silent, rejecting deportation and knowing that Lewis would even be prepared for a raid of the Black Swan headquarters. He is also very corrupt, having a Georgian village massacred just to make way for a gas pipeline.
