George Cornell is a the main antagonist in the 2015 British crime drama movie Legend. He is a member of Charlie Richardson's Gang, who takes over when the latter is arrested.
He was portrayed by Shane Attwooll.
Biography[]
Cornell is first seen alongside his boss, and a number of other gangsters, torturing a man. This is the first difference between the Richardson Gang and The Firm (Run By The Krays), as they operated by means of intimidation, blackmail, and all other non violent means.
Later, when the gang war between the Krays and the Richardsons becomes more apparent, he's seen hitting Reggie Kray with his Car non-fatally, forcing Reggie and The Firm, to drive a van into a Restaurant Owned by the Richardsons. This Promps Charlie And his brother, To Send Cornell and His Henchman Mike Jobber, to Organise a peace meetup on neutral ground. During this meeting however, he insults Ronnie Kray, calling him a "Fat Poof".
Despite this, they agree. This turns out to be a ruse, as the bar had actually been taken over by the Richardson's men, including Jobber, who had been instructed to "Beat the granny out of" The Krays. This is the last he's seen or mentioned for a good part of the movie, until much later, after Charlie Richardson's arrest, it is revealed he is heading Charlie's operations in his absence. He is seen beating a dock worker under the Kray's protection, telling him he works for The Richardson's now. This Prompts the dock worker to go to Ronnie Kray for protection, who, for a sum on 2,000 pounds, agrees to have Cornell Killed.
That Day, Cornell was approached by Ronnie Kray, in a pub to whom he mockingly said "well look what the cat dragged in". Ronnie pulled out a 9mm Luger and shot him once in the forehead, just above the eye.
Although Ronnie Kray was identified by several eyewitnesses as he calmly left the public house, no one would agree to testify against him and the police were forced to release him from custody.
