The monsters that the SSSP and Ultraman have defeated are being resurrected by Geronimon's power. They are planning an assault on the SSSP as revenge. In 5 hours, over 60 monsters from across the world will gather in Japan. You must defeat Geronimon while you still can. Geronimon is the Monster Chief. It possesses psychic powers. Beware.
~ Pigmon's warning to the SSSP about Geronimon

Geronimon[1] is the overarching antagonist of both the 1966 Ultraman series and the previous series, Ultra Q. He is the leader of all Earth's monsters and the last Earth-born kaiju opponent of the original Ultraman serving as the main antagonist of the 37th episode, "The Little Hero".

Biography[]

Origins[]

Geronimon at some point became the ruler of Earth's kaiju and monsters and controlled them to attack humanity in various disconnected incidents. Among them monsters from the Ultra Q series (such as Gomess) that appeared before Ultraman first arrived on Earth, these attacks prompted the creation of the SSSP to deal with the threat of kaiju.

Ultraman[]

Geronimon kept commanding his kaiju legions from the safety of his island home but grew frustrated as multiple monsters such as Red King, Gomora and Telesdon were defeated by the heroic Ultraman and SSSP. After he had enough of his monsters being killed he would revive Pigmon, Dorako and the aforementioned Talesdon with plans to resurrect even more monsters to use them as an army to overwhelm humanity with and conquer the planet. Ultraman and SSSP were informed of his plans by the revived Pigmon and reached his island to stop him. Upon being confronted, Geronimon sent out Dorako and Telesdon to kill Ultraman and his allies, but all the monsters were defeated by the SSSP members albeit at the cost of Pigmon's sacrifice; with his servants down, Geronimon fought Ultraman himself and after a relatively short brawl and after losing his feather crown was defeated when the hero reflected his own gravity-manipulating breath back at him leaving him vulnerable to SSSP member Ide destroying him with a ray gun blast.

With his defeat, with the exception of a few space kaiju being dealt with by the SSSP and Ultraman, Earth's kaiju ceased hostilities for almost 2 years, with their threat taking a backseat in favor of alien invasions that Ultraseven would deal with before they resumed hostile activities under Alien Empera's, the Minus Energy and Yapool's influence years later.

Other appearances[]

Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth[]

Geronimon appears as a playable character in Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth. In the story mode, Geronimon is revived and trapped in ice at a frozen wasteland with many other familiar kaiju. Ultraman arrives there and Geronimon wakes up, using his psychic powers within the ice to attack the hero, who deflects the attacks. The chief then breaks out to fight him hands on, though his strength not fully returned. After a lengthy fight, Geronimon dies from both Ultraman's efforts and pushing himself too hard. He later becomes part of EX Tyrant.

Trivia[]

  • Geronimon is technically the first series-wide villain in the Ultra Series as he was stated to be the one behind all the Earth-born kaiju attacks. However, he didn't show up until one of the last episodes of the original series and hasn't reappeared outside of it.
  • Geronimon is one of the few sapient kaiju in the franchise and one of the few independent major villains that aren't alien invaders.
