~ Ghastly King in New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. |
Ghastly King is the main antagonist of the video game Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. He is a monstrous and unnaturally colored Kong that is several times larger than the others. He rules a land which is a gray cavern that is dark, scary and full of hazards, and he planned to conquer all of the other kingdoms that Donkey Kong visited and the world.
After collecting 68 Crests, Donkey Kong traveled through what appeared to be the same level Cactus King lived in. However, when Donkey Kong reached the end of the level, instead of Cactus King, he found Ghastly King. Ghastly King, though, looked exactly like Cactus King having no differences except for a few new moves. It is confirmed that Cactus King is the fake final boss, as well as the thirteenth boss, and Cactus King is Ghastly King's weaker earlier ego, confirming that Ghastly King and Cactus King are one and the same being, due to their shared identical appearance and Japanese name.
He is voiced by Toshihide Tsuchiya.
Battle[]
Donkey Kong fought him differently compared to previous battles, as Cactus King was roughly ten times his size. At the beginning of the fight, Donkey Kong sees Cactus King on the giant Boss Pig Poppo. Once the battle begins, the Boss Pig Poppo begins to breathe out fire. Donkey Kong must clap at the fire until he can approach the Boss Pig Poppo. Then, he must clap on the Boss Pig Poppo and stun it. Next, Donkey Kong must jump and start attacking its snout. Once Donkey Kong has landed enough blows on the Boss Pig Poppo, Cactus King will jump and crush the Boss Pig Poppo. Donkey Kong must fight Cactus King by wall jumping at him, swinging his legs, or knocking him forward. If he is knocked down, the player can pound on him. Pounding on him enough times will defeat Cactus King.
Ghastly King[]
Ghastly King is the true final boss of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. He is identical to Cactus King in the game and is fought in the same way. Before reaching him, he came through an identical level as he went through to fight Cactus King. However, this time, the level is much harder. After beating the Boss Pig Poppo, the fight begins. His attacks are identical to that of Cactus King's, but now includes three new ones. Ghastly King can now do 1. a down sweep kick at Donkey Kong, 2. can do a high back flip mid-air kick at Donkey Kong and 3. spew out supernatural and demonic green and purple balls at Donkey Kong, and can also fire them at any angle such as down or up and can sometimes spew two to three energy balls at a time, yet, the maximum limit for the balls is 3. However, the balls can be destroyed by using Sound Wave Attack.
When Ghastly King is defeated for good, the last 4 Crests (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum) are collected, all 16 Fruit Kingdoms are saved and peace has returned and Dread Kong, Karate Kong, Ninja Kong and Sumo Kong are free from Ghastly King's control and are now reunited to the Kong Family as they cheer for Donkey Kong for now being the ruler and savior of the Fruit Kingdoms.
