The Ghost Pirates are a species of one-time villains from Popeye the Sailor Man, only appearing in the episode "Shiver Me Timbers". They are the ghosts of deceased pirates who died in a shipwreck and now they haunt their pirate ship.

Biography

In "Shiver Me Timbers", Popeye, Olive, and Wimpy explored a ghost pirate ship. Olive was very scared the entire time, worrying about the ghosts but Popeye didn't believe such ghosts existed. Meanwhile, Wimpy searched the pirate ship for food. He went into the kitchen and found some ghosts in there. He was initially scared but then they led him to a delicious pile of hamburgers, he was very welcoming of them. He was going to eat a hamburger but the hamburger turned into a ghost hamburger and floated away.

Meanwhile, Olive went into the powder room and accidentally got herself covered in flour. When she came out, Popeye mistook her for a ghost and started beating her with a club. Wimpy came by and started attacking her too only for the flour to fall off and for it to be revealed that it was actually Olive. Popeye said "See? I told you there was no ghosts." Just then, four ghost pirates surrounded them and said "Oh, yeah!?" and ambushed them in a big spooky ghostly vortex. The next thing he knew, Popeye was hanging from a rope at the top of the pirate ship and Olive and Wimpy were nowhere to be found.

Popeye escaped from the rope and went down into the basement to look for Olive and Wimpy. There, he was swarmed by ghosts who beat him with pots and pans. Popeye lured the ghosts into the icebox and then trapped them in there, where he froze them.

Popeye went back up to the deck and saw some dancing skeletons. These skeletons had him shivering in fear as he got out his spinach. Popeye used his spinach powers to beat up all the skeletons and turn them into things such as pool balls and dice. After this, he knocked all the remaining skeletons out of the ship, where they all died. Now that all the ghosts from the pirate ship were gone, Popete seized full control over it and started sailing it, himself.
