The Ghosts are recurring characters in SpongeBob SquarePants. However, they are the main antagonists of the episode "Séance Shméance".
They are a group of ghosts who become attracted to the return of Rusty's Rib Eye. After, they are begged to leave by SpongeBob, they cause chaos in the Krusty Krab.
Biography[]
SpongeBob and Squidward watch a show that includes a séance. Squidward is unimpressed with the plot, while SpongeBob is afraid of it. Old Man Jenkins then enters the Krusty Krab and orders a sandwich called a Rusty on Rye.
Squidward tells Old Man Jenkins to order something that's actually on the menu, which angers the old man. SpongeBob tells Squidward that he'll handle it, but realizes that he doesn't know how to make a Rusty on Rye. SpongeBob asks Old Man Jenkins about how to make it, but he replies by telling him it was in rye bread and was number nine on the menu. The other customers get impatient so Mr. Krabs asks Old Man Jenkins to leave. Squidward states that Old Man Jenkins is identified as an unsatisfied customer, which upsets SpongeBob. SpongeBob then asks Mr. Krabs why the Krusty Krab doesn't sell the Rusty on Rye. Mr. Krabs tells him that the Rusty on Rye was on the menu for an old restaurant called Rusty's Rub Eye, which was made by Rusty Rickets, who died 20 years ago.
Later that night, SpongeBob calls Patrick to the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs tells them not to eat the furniture, which upsets Patrick. Patrick then asks SpongeBob why he called him to the Krusty Krab. SpongeBob tells him that they are going to perform a Séance. After SpongeBob reads the ingredients for a mustard container and summons the spirit of Rusty's Rub Eye, the spirit of Rusty Rickets also shows up, which scares Patrick and causes him to run to get Mr. Krabs.
SpongeBob asks Rusty how to make a Rusty on Rye, however, his attempts to say and write down the recipe are unsuccessful, so Rusty just decides to show him how to make it instead, and it's revealed that the ingredients are driftwood, speckle, and shellac. Rusty asks SpongeBob to try it, but he rejects it and says that it's an acquired taste.
A bunch of ghosts then infiltrate the Krusty Krab because of the delicious smell of the Rusty on Rye. SpongeBob asks the ghosts to leave after they hang around the Krusty Krab for a while, but the ghosts then decide to cause chaos in the restaurant. Patrick and Mr. Krabs return to the Krusty Krab and see what happened because of the Séance. Patrick runs around the Krusty Krab and screams out of fear. Mr. Krabs sends the ghosts back into the the orb they came from and pops it. Mr. Krabs warns SpongeBob to never hold a Séance without his permission because "ghosts are like relatives, once you let them in, they'll never leave".
