Biography[]

Origin[]

During World War II, a man from Poland named Marcus and his family were captured by the Germans and locked up in concentration camps. There was a doctor who was called the Devil's Doctor because of his interest in the occult and the experiments he carried out on his patients. Marcus was rescued by the allies, came to the United States where he lived on the streets and ended up in a mental hospital. One of the psychiatrists turned out to be the Devil's Doctor who had taken refuge in America after the war.

One night, the doctor took Marcus from the hospital and took him to his house, where he continued his experiments with Marcus and others in a secret room in the basement. The doctor wrapped their tongues, cut their mouth strings, and sewed their mouths so that no one above could hear them. Marcus and the others died during the experiments, their corpses were left in the basement room and their spirits were trapped on the other side, voiceless, cold and insane. Other things in the dark, things that were never human, took over Marcus and the others, turning them into an evil entity which collectively manifests in the form of Ghoul Marcus.

The spirits remained in the house for decades until a family moved there and they watched over them all the time.

Ouija[]

While the Zander family is still reeling over the recent death of Roger, Alice's husband and the kids' father, Lina suggests Alice incorporate an Ouija board into her readings. While trying out the board, she unknowingly contacts a spirit named Marcus that begins to possess Doris.

When Alice received a notice that the bank intends to auction their house, Doris contacts the board for help, believing she is communicating with her dead father. The spirit leads her to a secret compartment behind the basement wall containing a bag of cash. Later, Doris becomes possessed by the evil spirit. Lina, who is becoming disturbed by her sister's strange behavior, finds papers written by Doris in Polish, a language she does not know and brings them to Father Tom to translate.

He reveals that the pages are entries written by a Polish immigrant named Marcus, who was held captive during World War II by a sadistic scientist who conducted experiments on him and other captives inside the house's basement. These spirits knew answers that only Roger would know because they have been watching the family since they first moved in. Meanwhile, Doris kills Lina's boyfriend, Mikey. When they find the body, Father Tom, Alice, and Lina burn the Ouija board in the fireplace.

Father Tom finds the secret room where the experiments were conducted and are possessed by the spirits. He attacks Alice and Lina, but momentarily seizes clarity, only to be killed by Doris. Alice is captured, while Roger's spirit carries an unconscious Lina to her bed. Recalling an earlier moment when her doll's mouth was sewed by her father's spirit to stop the voices, she realizes she must sew Doris' mouth shut to stop the spirits' voices and end the evil for good.

She fights off the embodied evil spirits to do so but kills Doris in the process, reuniting with her father. The spirits suddenly possess Lina and stab Alice in her hip.
