Gianni is a minor antagonist featured in the 2013 video game, Grand Theft Auto V. He is a close friend of Ancelotti Crime Family soldier, Rocco Pelosi, who works alongside him in order to get the revenge on film producer, Solomon Richards.
He was portrayed by Lenny Platt.
Biography[]
It is unknown when, but presumably in 2009, Gianni became a soldier for the Ancelotti Family, as well as becoming close friends with Rocco Pelosi, acting as a replacement for Rocco's uncle, Vince, who was murdered by former Ancelotti associate Tony Prince's bodyguard, Luis Lopez the previous year in Liberty City. Eventually the duo start running an extortion scam in Vinewood, Los Santos.
By 2013, the duo try to use their scam on infamous film producer, Solomon Richards, who is currently working on the film, Meltdown, as well as bringing the film's main actor and director to their warehouse. This infuriates Richards, who sends out career criminal, Michael De Santa to beat Rocco and bring the actor and director back to the movie studio, which De Santa succeeds at doing.
After this, a now vengeful Rocco returns to Solomon's movie studio to beat him along with Gianni. However, De Santa discovers them and chases them with his car. However the player decides to do it, De Santa murders Gianni and Rocco, however on various news reports of the incident, Gianni is never mentioned.
Personality[]
Gianni already had negative qualities to begin with in life and possessed traits that made him fit to be considered a low-level enforcer and opportunist within the Ancelotti Family. Lacking ambition beyond loyalty to Rocco Pelosi, Gianni embodied the archetype of a follower—aggressive when supported, submissive when isolated.
The character can be described as arrogant yet dependent, showing confidence only when backed by authority. His participation in extortion and intimidation schemes across Vinewood reveals a personality built on imitation rather than initiative. He mirrors Rocco’s behavior, adopting his partner’s bravado and cruelty while lacking the cunning to make those traits effective.
Associates described Gianni as “Rocco’s shadow,” a title that reflected both his loyalty and his lack of individuality. His interactions with Solomon Richards and Michael De Santa show a man who mistakes aggression for strength, responding to setbacks with violence rather than strategy.
Ultimately, Gianni’s death serves as a reflection of his character—loud, reckless, and unnoticed. Despite his ties to organized crime, he left no legacy beyond being another expendable soldier in a system that rewards cruelty more than intelligence.
