The Giant Snake is the minor antagonist in the 2012 horror film The Cabin in the Woods. It is one of the many Monsters created by the Ancient Ones for the Organization, in order to punish and kill the young through the the ritual.

The snake is a reference to the countless serpentine monsters of movies and other fiction, and likely of the common phobia known as ophidiophobia.

Its vocal sound effects were provided by Dane A. Davis.

Biography

The Giant Snake was created by Ancient Ones for the American branch of the Organization, in order to punish and kill the young sacrifices. The creature would be summoned into the scenario via an unknown object.

By the time of the last ritual the Internal Logistics-department was betting on the creature on the white board, but it was Buckner Family the who were summoned instead.

Later the snake was released by Dana Polk during the System Purge, in which it was released during the first wave of monsters. The snake, after getting out of its cube, wrapped itself around one of the Facility soldiers, crushing him to death and snatching another, swallowing him whole. As a second wave of soldiers arrived, they attempted to shoot at the snake, but it escaped alongside the other monsters to cause more mayhem inside the facility.

Later, one of the Deadites threw a facility worker over a railing, with the snake snatching the man and eating him.

Appearance

The snake is a hybrid of several types of snakes, with it having the head of viper, the hood of a cobra, the rattle of a rattlesnake, and it strangles it's prey like a boa constrictor.
