The Giants are the overarching antagonists of the first season of the Netflix Greek mythology adult action series Blood of Zeus.
They were like their name suggests, gigantic creatures born from the blood of the last Titan to be slain at the hands of the Greek gods. They are a race of great strength and aggression. They were known for the Gigantomachy, their battle with the Olympian gods.
Biography[]
Gigantomachy war[]
When the world was new, the gods defeated the Titans, during the Titanomachy. But as the last Titan was slain, he swore a curse on the gods before dying, and when his blood struck the sea, the giants were born. These monsters were brought into the world for a single purpose: to destroy the realm of the gods. A hellish war known as the Gigantomachy then begun. The gods swore to defeat the giants and rid them from the earth. Both gods and giants fell alike. Still, neither side would fall, and the two factions battled on endlessly, incapable of conquering the other.
Until one day, Zeus convinced two of the giantsL Briares the Hekatoncheires and Arges the Cyclops, to defect to the gods. Soon, Zeus would lead one final attack, which the gods finally defeated the Giants. Zeus ordered Hermes to gather their souls while their remains were cast into the ocean, to be forever swallowed by the tides. The smithing god Hephaestus forged the grand automaton Talos to stand guard over the Cauldron, forever sworn to keep it shut to prevent the Giants from returning
The Creation of the Demons[]
As the ages passed, a terrible squall rustled the ocean floor, washing a dead giant ashore and as the Fates would have it, one of these dark vessels was discovered by Seraphim. Though he did not know it, this evil began poisoning him, for to even touch a giant is to feel the abyss. Feasting on the giant's flesh, Seraphim transformed into a demonic creature. Others were drawn to him, either willingly or by force. Many men stopped praying to the gods, and instead, they pledged their loyalty to the giants and soon they began to eat the giant's flesh as well. Through this process, demons emerged and began to wreak havoc on innocent people.
Appearance[]
The Giants are massive, terrifying creatures with grotesque, otherworldly forms. Each Giant possesses unique traits, resembling monstrous amalgamations of animals and mythical beasts.
Personality[]
The Giants are driven by rage, destruction, and chaos, showing no mercy to gods or mortals alike. Some Giants exhibit more intelligence and strategy like Porphyrion, who is the leader of the Giants, while the others are mindless forces of destruction. Regardless of their approach, their ultimate goal is to destroy the Olympus.
Power and Abilities[]
Though each Giant had a different shape and powers, what they all shared in common was their enormous size and strength. Their flesh could transform a human who eats it into a demon.
Weakness[]
The Cauldron: Coupled with Hermes' armband, the Cauldron could both restore and take away the essences of the Giants.
