Sir Gideon Ofnir, also known as the All-Knowing is a supporting character in the 2022 action-RPG video game, Elden Ring. He is an aged Tarnished that serves as the leader of the Roundtable Hold. He assists the Tarnished to become Elden Lord throughout most of their journey.
When the Erdtree rejects anyone to become Elden Lord and is burned by the Tarnished, however, Gideon learns something about Marika that causes him to fall into despair and abandon any hope of becoming Elden Lord. As a result, he does everything in his power to prevent the Tarnished from proceeding any further.
Appearance[]
Gideon Ofnir is an average sized Tarnished that wears silver armor and carries a staff. Without his mask, he has pale skin and gray hair. He is first seen to be humpbacked but that is later confirmed to be false as he can easily move around in his own boss fight.
Biography[]
Gideon Ofnir was one of the Tarnished that rose from dead when Greater Will reunited them with Grace. After his revival, he journeyed to Lands Between and became the leader of Roundtable Hold. He recruited a Tarnished as his apprentice and adopted one of the descendants of Hoarah Loux as his daughter. Two Fingers had high expectations from the All-Knowing and his proteges.
Sometime later, the hold eventually lost its glory and was literally nothing more than a refuge for Tarnished. During this time, Ofnir started to question Two Fingers and its purpose. He started to believe that Marika had different expectations from Tarnished. Nevertheless, he hid his intentions from others around him.
In time, a fellow Tarnished arrived at the hold and was greeted by him but was warned to not make himself/herself comfortable. He then told the Tarnished to defeat a shardbearer so they can receive the wisdom of Two Fingers and he can offer wisdom. He then offers his information to the Tarnished as he promised.
He sought to find a way to Haligtree, where twin prodigies were supposedly residing, he saught to find the secret medallion. He sent his men to scour an Albinauric village. Upon seeing the massacre, his adoptive daughter, Nepheli Loux, confronts his father with what happened. He eventually disowned her. If the Tarnished acquires the first half of the medallion from one of the villagers, Upon returning, Ensha confronts and attempts to kill the Tarnished but gets killed. Gideon,when asked about what Ensha did, apologizes and tells that he went above his limits.
After defeating the Omen King, he guides the Tarnished to travel to Mountaintop of the Giants. There he tells the Tarnished that they shouldn't be worried about Two Fingers and should do whatever they please. Upon burning the Erdtree, Ofnir tells the Tarnished that he will gain every knowledge available in the hold before he leaves.
After the Tarnished unleashes the destined death once more, he leaves the hold and waits to confront the Tarnished. He tells that Marika wishes not a Tarnished to become an Elden Lord, but suffer while trying to become it. During his boss fight, he uses many types of attacks, even can use abilities of defeated shardbearers if the Tarnished shares information about them. Upon his defeat, he states that a man cannot defeat a god.
