| “ | Tell me, who's the baddest of the bad? The maddest of the mad? The killer of kings and destroyer of worlds? You better believe it! The one... the only... Indestructible Gig! | „ |
| ~ Gig |
Gig is the villainous main protagonist of Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. He shares Revya's body after they acquired the power of the Onyx Blade. Depending on your choices in the game, Gig can either redeem himself (in the normal path) or encourage Reyva to take his power and to commit crimes.
He was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, who also voiced Jasper Batt Jr. in No More Heroes 2.
Personality[]
Gig is a generally rude person, he looks down on everyone else around him, seeing them as far weaker than him.
In the past, Gig craved death and destruction, revelling in all of the horrible deeds he commits, an aspect of his personality that is amplified in the Demon Path.
After his journey with Revya on the Normal Path, Gig becomes a much more noble character to the point that he is willing to sacrifice his life to save the world and his friends.
Biography[]
Past[]
The Normal Path[]
In the Normal Path, after your character decides to accept the responsibilities Lady Layna imparts to them, the player learns about Gig's backstory through the shared dreams the two of them have. In a few of the dreams, you learn that Gig was once Vigilance, an angel who fell to the dark side because he wanted to help people before becoming corrupted by Drazil.
From the start of the game, Gig doesn't try to hide the fact that he wants to control Reyva's body. If the player allows him to control their body during the first fight with Feinne, Gig takes control of Reyva's body after the fight resulting in a bad ending. The only actual time he controls Reyva's body is in the world of Drazil after Reyva gave him permission to use it to defeat Drazil. The ensuing battle resulted in Gig sacrificing himself before being reincarnated.
The Demon Path[]
In a New Game+, the player has the opportunity to give into Gig instead of accepting the responsibilities Lady Layna imparted to them. Should the player do this, then Gig encourages Reyva to unleash their dark side starting by massacring everyone in the village when they grew up. Whenever Reyva uses Gig's power in a fight, they often get exhausted and fall asleep for a certain amount of time. During this period, Gig has full control of Reyva's body and starts committing atrocities all across Prodesto.
Despite Gig, being the literal "Master of Death", there are moments throughout both paths, but especially in the Demon Path, where Gig reacts in horror to Reyva's actions. One of them is when Reyva murders Agrippa in cold blood right in front of Pinot, Endorph, and Odie. Gig responds by saying, "Damn kid. This is just wrong."
Depending on what happens during the final battle in the Demon Path, one of two things will happen. Should Reyva win the final battle, Gig is eaten by Reyva the Devourlord. Should Reyva lose the final battle, the brainwashing that Drazil put on Vigilance wears off and he ends up remembering everything he did as Gig much to his horror.
Personality[]
Throughout the game, Gig often displays sarcasm and hostility towards Reyva's party, such as when he referred to Danette as a "stupid cow" because of her bad memory. Interestingly enough, despite wanting to take control of Reyva's, to the point where he doesn't even try to hide his intentions, Gig often refers to Reyva as his soulmate and, at certain points in the game, shows concern for Reyva's well-being.
