Gigist is one of the overarching antagonists of Kamen Rider Gotchard, the fifth Reiwa era installment of the Kamen Rider franchise.
He is a powerful demonic entity who was responsible for the creation of the Chemies and one of the Dark Kings sealed behind the Door of Darkness until resurfacing after the first defeat of his servant Glion and the arrival of the multi-dimensional organization Hundred.
He is voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu.
History[]
121 years ago before the start of the series, Gigist, alongside Germain and Gaelijah, were three human alchemists who discovered the Philosopher's Stone. Harnessing its power for themselves, they abandonned their humanity and became demonic entities, combining themselves into the Dark King. He is also responsible for the creation of Chemies, starting with the first two, Gaiard and Dragonalos, to serve him in his plans. He started the Great Alchemy War, which ended with his defeat when the Daybreak Alchemist banished him to the Door of Darkness, where he resided in over 100 years.
At some point, he had an offspring named Nijigon, the ultimate Chemy, which escaped from him and ended up inside Houtaro Ichinose's body.
121 years later, a rogue alchemist named Glion have heard of Gigist's origins and made a pact with him in order to open the Door of Darkness in exchange for turning the world into a golden wasteland. However this pact ended in failure when Gotchard defeats Geryon, leading Gigist to drag the latter inside the Door of Darkness.
Sometime after, Gigist finally made his move when he gets out from Door of Darkness, assuming a humanoid-Malgam like form.
Personality[]
Gigist speaks well-calm and dignified. His words and actions can demonstrate his high intelligence. He proclaims himself "an entity who understands humanity", and will appreciate the person when they trying to show resistance against him. He views Chemies, his own creations, are beings that bring despair and sorrow to humanity, compared to Houtaro, who views them as the opposite.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Theurgy - Gigist can call upon gods and other divine forces to perform miracles and grant power. This allows the user to become more powerful than those who rely on their own abilities but are reliant on the beings that aid them.
- Spatial Alchemy - Gigist can manipulate, control, distort, and bend space, the dimensions of height, depth, and width within which all things exist and move. Most commonly, users can use this ability to teleport by depleting the space from point A to point B, simply choosing to occupy a different space, creating portals, or by teleporting by creating a loophole made in space.
Trivia[]
- His actor, Ryotaro Okiayu, also played Byakuya Kuchiki in Bleach, Treize Khushrenada in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Hisashi Mitsui in Slam Dunk, Meisuke Nueno in Hell Teacher Nūbē, Kunimitsu Tezuka in The Prince of Tennis, Zero in Mega Man X
