After Joan of Arc's execution and his victory at Lagny
Rais came home and waged war against kids in his vicinity.
He would sodomize the children, mostly boys but girls as well.
Rais would kill and cut them open and masturbate on their entrails.
~ Description of de Rais's crimes.

Gilles de Rais is the titular protagonist of Macabre's song "The Black Knight".

Based on the Medieval French aristocrat of the same name, de Rais is a former ally of Joan of Arc who later goes on to kill numerous children in black masses with the intention of making a deal with the forces of Hell.

Biography[]

Born in 1404, Gilles de Rais served as Joan of Arc's lieutenant during the Hundred Years' War. He played a role in many of her key victories and was eventually named Marshall of France. At this time he was a devout Catholic and believed in all of Joan of Arc's holy visions.

However, after winning the battle of Lagny Rais returned home. After spending too much money he sank into debt and resorted to the occult to replenish his wealth. He lured children back to his castle where he would sodomize and kill them during black masses. He would then cut them open and masturbate on their organs. These dark rites brought forth demons from Hell who granted de Rais more wealth.

Due to his noble position de Rais got away with his crimes for eight years until he was eventually caught beating up a priest in a dispute over land. Due to this offence against God de Rais was stripped of his position and the authorities seized his castle, finding the remains of his victims inside. Charged with 50 counts of murder de Rais confessed to avoid torture and excommunication. He was sentenced to death for murder and witchcraft and executed by being simultaneously hanged and burned.
