Your friend is a pig! He will die thin!
~ Gina to Richie

Galina Lempke, also known as Gina, is the secondary antagonist from Stephen King's body-horror novel, Thinner. She is the granddaughter of Tadzu Lempke, the film's main antagonist, who along with him suffered over the killing of her mother, Suzan Lempke. After her mother's death, she supported her grandfather's efforts to get revenge on the guilty party as well as those who helped him get away with it.

Gina is played by Kari Wuhrer, who also portrayed Janet Sterling in CSI Miami and voiced Barbara Kean in Batman: Gotham by Gaslight.

Personality[]

Despite her grandfather's strong sense of morals and justice, Gina (along with her husband) has a tendency to break the law. Gina's lack of morals is demonstrated both in a minor fashion, such as when she stole, or in a more extreme fashion, as seen when she murdered someone whom was spying on her family.

Gina is quick tempered, seen becoming violent and doubling down during stressful and/or inconvenient situations. She is shown to easily become violent, such as when she shot Billy's hand with her slingshot, causing a rock to go right through it. She also went so far as to murder a mercenary for the sole reason that he had been spying on her family, decorating his corpse and leaving it in a car.

Biography[]

Gina is seen first when attention is being brought to her gathering across the street from Billy's law firm. One of Billy's associates remarked on her beauty and told him to give her money so that she would flash at them. Gina would seemingly hear them but they shrug it off. When Billy sees her again, he ends up being teased by her, before she flips him off and spits at him in disgust.

Gina is seen later in a drug store with her family while her grandfather picked up a prescription. While the pharmacist prepared his pills, Gina and her husband began stealing a few things around the store. Soon after, her mother was hit by Billy, her distraught reaction having occurred offscreen.

Gina makes her next appearance at the campfire with the rest of her family when Billy Halleck arrived. She, her husband and her grandfather confronted Billy, telling him that the curse would never be removed. They gave him the nickname, "The White Man From Town". Billy insisted that he would curse them, causing them to laugh. He continued to make threats until Gina took out her slingshot and fired a rock at his hand, going right through it and causing it to bleed profusely. He then used it to bleed onto the ground and announce his curse upon everyone there.

Gina and her husband a man that was hired by Richie Ginelli, killing him and leaving his body inside of a vehicle that they wrote threats on. This prompted Richie to go after the camp through a series of violent attacks, one of which resulted in the death of her husband. She ran to his body screaming in anguish before the screen faded to black. The next morning, Richie arrived at the camp disguised as an FBI agent. He approached her and asked her to come with him to identify the murderer. He led her to a barn, where he revealed his true identity and threw a mild acid on her face. He then pinned her on the ground, putting a jar containing a more serious acid on her forehead. He then left with Billy, driving off while she slowly removed it, trying to avoid spillage. After removing it, she ran out of the home and screamed that Billy would die, but Richie would die first.

Trivia[]

  • During Billy's dream, Gina appeared and taunted him for his diminishing state by handing him a doll that depicted what he would soon look like. After being handed the doll, she began chasing after him with the slingshot she would eventually end up using in the real world. She chased him until Cary Rossington picked him up in his car. She continued to fire at the car, shattering its windows, but giving up after it drove away.
  • It is unknown whether or not Gina ever took her husband's last name. She is often referred to with her maiden name in order to establish her relation with Tadzu.
