Biography[]
Background[]

Justified[]
Season One[]
Gio does not appear for the majority of season one, however his henchmen repeatedly appear attempting hits on his enemies. The first time is in the episode "Long in the Tooth", in which two hitmen are dispatched to kill Roland Pike, a former cartel money launderer who was embezzling money. US marshal Raylan Givens is able to kill both assassins, but a third assassin, a sniper, is placed at the Mexican border and is able to kill Pike. Later in the series, he tries to have Hunter, Mr. Duke and Red kill Raylan for killing Tommy Bucks, authorizing Mr. Duke to kill Hunter afterwards to cover up his involvement. This fails when Hunter figures this out and kills Mr. Duke, and he and Red are ultimately arrested by Raylan.
Due to Hunter's arrest, Bo is released from prison, necessitating a meeting between him and Gio. Gio tells Bo that his niece and nephew Pilar and Ernesto will deliver him a $2 million supply of ephedrine in return for Bo paying the cartel two million. Bo agrees, and also swears to kill Raylan. However, Bo's son Boyd blows up the shipment, causing the cartel to lose the two million dollars and leading to Pilar killing Bo.
Season Two[]
Gio appears in the first episode, when Raylan comes to Miami in order to bring him a badly injured Pilar and end the attempts on his life. Raylan threatens Gio with a gun, telling him he'll kill him of he doesn't swear that he won't come after him again. The confrontation is interrupted by Chief Deputy Marshal Dan Grant, who forces Gio into a similar vow, threatening to shoot him if the cartel continues to target Raylan. Consequently, the cartel do not make another appearance in the show.
