You're doing it all wrong!
~ One of the Goblins' common phrases

The Goblins are the usual antagonists of the Rainbow Magic franchise and are frequently the adversaries that the two human girls must face to regain stolen objects belonging to their fairy friends. They mostly live in a town called Goblin Grotto which is a mile away from Jack Frost's Ice Castle, while some of them live at the castle where they are the servants of Jack Frost himself.

Personality[]

In general, the goblins are highly mischievous and have a habit of causing trouble wherever they go. They typically do whatever Jack Frost orders them to do, but they tend to care more about having fun, even when they end up disobeying orders. They aren't very sharp and due to their selfish desires and short-tempered personalities; they often get into arguments and blame the others when it was their own fault and not the ones on the receiving end of the blame. They don't think constructively and try to solve dilemmas, which frequently give Rachel Walker and Kirsty Tate as well as the fairy traveling with them a huge advantage over them through strategy. Even when Jack Frost gives them to means to counter the girls, their inability to work together often results in them failing to do their jobs and at times coerced into defying Jack.

The goblins have an extreme fear of Pogwurzels, which are known to them as their natural predators and the goblin parents often use the stories of these monsters and warn of them in order to get them to behave. As such, they fear the dark and become paranoid of a Pogwurzel possibly attacking them.

When they are not performing villainous deeds, the goblins can be seen having fun and they are known to enjoy music, such as songs sung by Elvis Presley. In rare incidences, one of the goblins ended up helping the girls in some way, such as guiding them out of a fort to repay them for helping him out of a situation. It isn't known if that goblin actually recognized the girls as their adversaries, or he thought they were someone else entirely.

The goblins sometimes have sympathetic moments, where are shown to acknowledge their frustrations with arguing and have long wanted to get along better with their friends for a change and some of them may get upset when their own objects suffer damage. These are also moments where the girls are sympathetic towards them and at times have managed to resolve their problems.

Appearances[]

The goblins primarily have green colored skin, bead-like red or deep green eyes with bony heads and sharp ears, large feet, and long noses. Their main article of clothing has them wearing brown leather skirts, and they have at times disguised themselves to avoid being spotted by the girls, but they don't realize that their ears, feet, and noses are the major factors that give them away. In the Rainbow Fairies series, they were initially small and tiny in terms of size, but in the Weather Fairies series onwards, their sizes are adjusted to either the size of a small child or the same size as Rachel and Kirsty's shoulders. Because of a decree that nothing should be as big as the Fairyland Palace's highest tower, Jack Frost has to abide by this. Some goblins have hair.

Trivia[]

  • The goblins initially have frozen the area around them, much like their master, and loathe being burned to the slightest, but they don't retain it in the later series.
