File:Sha Ka Ree entity impersonating Sybok.jpg

The true antagonist in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, this entity claimed to be God but was actually a malevolent noncorporeal being discovered by the Vulcan Sybok and the crew of the USS Enterprise-A in 2287. It was imprisoned on a planet located within the Great Barrier, at the center of the galaxy, which was believed by Sybok to be Sha Ka Ree of Vulcan mythology.  Sybok steals the Enterprise to "find God."   He along with Kirk, and McCoy transport down to the planet.  The Entity on the planet claims to be the idea of God found on a number of alien worlds and demands the Enterprise be brought closer so it can escape.  When Kirk and the others question why it needs a starship it lashes out.  It reveals to Sybok that it is not the benevolent god Sybok thinks it is, but merely pretended.  Sybok wrestles with it to buy Kirk and the others time to escape.  It pursues Kirk and McCoy to kill them, but they are saved when Spock uses a the weapons of a Klingon Bird of Prey to destroy the entity presumably destroying it.

In the non-canon Star Trek: TNG - Q Continuum novel series the entity's past is explored.  Its true name is revealed to be "The One" and it is the source of monotheism on several planets across the galaxy.  It was an immensly powerful alien entity in service to a greater power named 0 along with several other entities.  The Q of Star Trek: TNG brought them to the Star Trek Galaxy hundreds of thousands of years ago for fun unaware how evil they were.  After the group wrecked chaos across the galaxy including destroying the ancient Tkon Empire the rest of the Q Continuum attempted to arrest them.  After a prolonged battle across time and space four Q working together were able to destroy its body by sheer will leaving only the head.  For its crimes, it was imprisoned at the center of the galaxy until it either repeanted or the end of the universe.
