Gol-D Tooth is one of the main antagonists of Monica's Gang: An Adventure Through Time.

A Portuguese colonizer on the XVII's century Brazil, who gained posession of the Element of Water, a sintetization of water itself, that allowed its holder hydrokinetic powers. Created by Franklin in the present time, this element, alongside the other three elements of nature, got lost through time and it is up to Monica and her friends to retrieve them; in Water's case, Smudge was the one assigned, being sent to colonial Brazil, near an indigenous forest, to find it and, by consequence, face Gol-D.

He was voiced by Didi Oliveira.

Personality[]

Gol-D Tooth is loud and obnoxious, an arrogant and greedy settler who cares for little more than acquiring gold in Brazil's (by the time period) new lands. He has no restraints of any kind, or so it seems, perfectly fine with condeming Tom-Tom's tribe to starvation by stealing all of the other from the forest and nearby rivers, in order to aid his quest for gold, and with attacking both Tom-Tom and Smudge, children, with the element of Water, and later attempting to enslave them in order to have extra hands to do his service.

Biography[]

Background[]

Gol-D Tooth is a portuguese settler and a Bandeirante, of the XVII Century, a kind of colonizer that was set to indigenous lands to bring them under the Portuguese Empire. He was also a prospector who loved to look for gold, and seemed to have that as his main goal. Some days before Smudge got to his time period, he came across the Element Water and, believing it to be an indigenous amulet, used its powers to cause a massive drought in the forest to boost his quest for gold.

Monica's Gang: An Adventure Through Time[]

As Tom-Tom grabbed Smudge and forced him to go through the dry river and see what the drought caused, a little bird was drinking the last remaints of water, only for Gol-D to use the Element Water to absorb those last few droplets, laughing evilly and proclaiming his plan. Tom-Tom reveals himself and challenges Gol-D Tooth. The bigger man asks who is gonna make him go away, and Tom-Tom appoints Smudge, who he still thinks is a Tupã-sent savior. After grabbing Smudge by his clothes, he gets two arrows stuck in his backside by Tom-Tom, who then jumps on his hat, covering his face. Angered and having enough, Gol-D Tooth summons a tidal wave that knocks out the little indigenous boy and that Smudge barely escapes from. Gleeful, Gol-D claims he now has extra helps in gold-digging.

When the movie cuts back to the XVII Century, Tom-Tom and Smudge are looking for gold amongst the dirt. When Smudge finds a good sized gold piece, he snatches it out of his hand, compliments his work and tells him to continue. Not much after, though, he claims it is time to "repast", which Smudge gets infuriated at, confusing it with the brazillian portuguese word for "grazing". Finding it funny, Gol-D corrects him, saying it is the same as lunch. Smudge then gets happy at the prospect of it, but he and Tom-Tom are imprisioned in a cage, while Gol-D eats a chicken leg gleefully.

When Monica, having already recovered her respective element, is sent to Smudge's current time period to help him, Gol-D is amused when she orders him to let her friend and the indian go, and when Smudge declares he is in big trouble now. Monica attempts to rabbit hit him, but he calmly deflects it with a whirpool of water, that sends Sanson high up. It hits the cage Tom-Tom and Smudge are in, leading it to fall on his head. When he tries to retrieve the Element Water that fell to the ground during the confusion, Monica steps on his hand, preventing him from getting it back. Now powerless, Gol-D Tooth runs away, chased by the Gang's dog, Blu, who bites him in the backside, ripping a piece of his pants.

Since they use the Element Water to restore the forest and Tom-Tom's Tribe, and they go back to their time travelling adventure, the character of Gol-D Tooth is never seen before, and can be assumed to, in fear of them using the Element Water against him (which he believes is an indigenous talisman, and unaware they took it away from that time period), have never caused problems for Tom-Tom and his Tribe again.
