Gold Mask (黄金仮面 Ōgon Kamen, 1) was the grim reaper-themed Masked Monster of the Black Cross Army, the first Masked Monster, the main antagonist of the 1st episode of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, being the very first monster in the entire Super Sentai franchise.
He was voiced by Toku Nishio who later voiced a Boat Ear Mask, Black Hair Mask, Wire Mask, Pirate Mask, and Bird Mozoo.

Past[]
The Black Cross Army was founded by an enigmatic figure known as the Black Cross Führer at an unknown point. The Führer gathered a coalition of despots, warlords and criminal gangs to form the most powerful paramilitary organization with the goal of conquering the world. As such, Golden Mask was created as a cyborg to serve the Black Cross Army as its muscle.
Goranger[]
After the UN forms EAGLE to oppose the Black Cross Army, the Black Cross Führer sends Gold Mask and four other Masked Monsters to lead battalions of Zolders in assaulting EAGLE bases and massacring everyone inside. He is first seen when ambushing some practicing soldiers outside the Kanto EAGLE Base before he and his Zoldiers storm the building and slaughter everyone there except for Tsuyoshi Kaijo who survives by seemingly getting gunned down. Believing EAGLE to be neutralised, the Führer announces the next stage of the Black Cross Army's worldwide operation to the Masked Monsters and Zolers. Gold Mask and his Zolders kidnap a bus full of kindergarteners and use them as hostages to steal gunpowder from a factory to use in the Black Cross Army's ultimate invasion. Although Gold Mask plans to to blow the children up inside the factory, the Gorangers are able to successfully to rescue the children in time using the Variblune. Although Gold Mask manages to flee in a convoy, Tsuyoshi chases them down only to be blasted down and beaten only for the other Gorangers to arrive up. After his troops are decimated, Gold Mask attempts to flee but is then killed by the Goranger Storm.
Personality[]
Gold Mask was shown to be ruthless, cold, villainous and destructive and was willing to destroy anyone and anything at his path. He was also shown to be arrogant and abusive since he taunted the Gorangers multiple times during their battle and even while being at the verge of death, he taunted the Gorangers and claimed that their victory was insignificant and meaningless. However, despite his violent and mean nature, Gold Mask was also shown to be quite faithful to the Black Cross Fuhrer and loyally carried all of his orders.

- Zolders Summoning: Gold Mask was also able to summon Zolders to aid him in battle.

- Scythe: Golden Mask wielded a massive Grim Reaper scythe in battle.
- Boomerang Scythe: Gold Mask could also throw his scythe like a boomerang to strike his enemies.

- Gold Mask was the first Sentai character to wear spandex as the first Sentai team to wear spandex would not come until Kagaku Sentai Dynaman.
