~ Golvis after Jack reveals the truth. |
Golvis is the main antagonist of the game Pac 'n Roll. He is a ghostly rock star who was banished to the edges of space.
Appearance[]
Golvis sports a large, fat, chartreuse-green body. He has blue eyes with bags underneath (implying he doesn't get enough sleep which may be a contributor to his clumsiness). His style is that of a 1980's punk rocker. His gear consists of a red rock-and-roll guitar (who is called Jack), dark purple rock-and-roll-style jeans, and pink boxers with red hearts (despite his lack of legs). His orange hair with purple highlights is stylized to look like a mohawk which connects to his orange unibrow. Four spikes appear on his back, making him look like a kaiju somewhat. On his hands are dark purple rock-and-roll gloves with spiked blue wristbands.
In Pac-Man Monsters, Golvis is given a new design. "Funny Golvis" is a light blue with a magenta pompadour and purple pants with Jack being colored magenta. When Funny Golvis evolves, his appearance changes again now being colored purple with a blonde pompadour. His pants are now red, with Jack being colored blue.
Personality[]
Golvis appears to be prideful and boastful, claiming himself to be the "King of Rock 'n' Roll", and claiming that one or two power pellets have no effect on him. Golvis also has a love for rock music, as evident with his style and how he talks. Golvis has a partnership with Jack, a magic guitar who calls him "boss". Golvis also likes to talk down and taunt his opponents, as evident when he uses Jack to remove all the limbs off the Pac-People, laughing at their helpless state.
Golvis also seems to be arrogant and vengeful. Whenever he is defeated, he swears vengeance and tries to get even. He is determined not to give up on fighting Pac-Man, however, but ultimately fails in the end. It is revealed later that Golvis can sometimes be stupid. Golvis also appears to be a bad sport, throwing temper tantrums and complaining whenever he loses due to Pac-Man and Krystal taking advantage of his clumsiness or when he gets dizzy. Golvis' main flaw that ultimately becomes his downfall is his clumsiness. It comes to the point where he started failing so much due to his incompetence that the Ghost Gang, and even Jack started to become fed up with him. As it turns out, Golvis' "dangerous acts" are mostly with him being so incompetent and clumsy that the ghosts banished him after having to put up with him, though Golvis claims it was unintentional.
Biography[]
Golvis is first mentioned when Pinky states that he was banished to the edges of space for being too evil. He is first seen in the flesh as a purple silhouette when Pac-Man has a weird dream.
Golvis is later seen for real when his spaceship lands at the Pac-pellet Harvest Festival. Golvis crashes the party by playing his guitar as the Pac-People fight him off with their power pellets, but due to his power, only his tail turns blue, making his upper body inedible. He uses his guitar Jack to create a "rockin' beam" that turns the Pac-People into balls, immobilizing them. Golvis' guitar then turns into a vacuum which he uses to banish them, but thanks to Krystal the fairy, Pac-Man escapes the assault that Golvis and his friends led.
Pac-Man is told by Krystal that he needs to stop Golvis, but Pac-Man doubts his potential since Pac-Master lost as well. Despite his initial doubts, Pac-Man manages to save his race, defeating Golvis in the process.
Golvis is later seen on a raft (a broken part of the UFO) with Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and Clyde, where they are seen watching a T.V. on Pac-Man's first success. Golvis asks if he can watch T.V. with them, but the Ghost Gang scold him due to his failures. Jack, now fed up with Golvis, then reveals that Golvis wasn't banished for being too evil, he was actually banished for his incredible incompetence, causing Golvis to cry, and much to the enragement of the Ghost Gang. It is unknown what happened to Golvis after his appearance in Pac 'n Roll, but he was most likely either sent back into space, or he had decided to stay in Ghost Land.
Pac-Man Monsters[]
Golvis returns in the short-lived iOS spin-off game Pac-Man Monsters. He is a darkness-type character. He has a different appearance in this game, this time being colored light blue. He also sports a pompadour, which makes him look more like his namesake, Elvis Presley. Jack has also been given a new look, being colored magenta.
