Gonzô Kosugi is a major antagonist of the Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime series. He is the former team leader and supervisor of Akira Tendo's company who abused his position by exploiting Akira. After the zombie apocalypse, he became the tyrannical leader of a survivor group where he would recruit minions and force them to work for him.
In Japanese dub, he is voiced by Kenta Miyake, while in the live action film adaptation he is played by Kazuki Kitamura, who also played Controller X in Godzilla Final Wars and Nomura Shuhei in Killers. In English dub, he is voiced by Jamieson K. Price.
Biography[]
Before the outbreak, Gonzou was the team commander of Black Company. At first, he was cordial with Akira in an effort to gain his trust, but once this happened, he revealed his true colors and began to work his crew to death before the Zombies attacked.
Gonzou managed to survive and eventually formed a group. He used them to set traps to make other survivors crash, and he offered them refuge and medical care in exchange for their labor, where they worked almost non-stop and were not allowed to enjoy themselves. He did this to Akira's group, and it severely injured Kenichirou because he was riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
Even after Kenichirou was healed, Gonzou refused to let Akira leave, despite the fact that Akira had paid him back for his assistance. Akira initially refused to work for him, but Ken needed help, so he agreed. However, after Gonzou gets back into Akira's head and convinces him that he cannot survive without his support, he turns him into a figurative zombie and makes him work tirelessly, subsequently declaring that he would prefer to perish in the zombie world than remain with him for an additional second. Akira saw the chaos and then saw Gonzou being surrounded; he was too fat and out of shape to outrun them. Akira saved him, and the combined efforts of Gonzou's group (minus Gonzou) and Akira's group then boxed in the Zombie horde and blew them up. Just then, a supply truck arrived, but the drivers got attacked by some Zombies that had snuck into the trailer. Gonzou was abandoned by his squad and Akira after the commotion, who also bid Gonzou farewell.
Personality[]
Gonzô is a scummy, arrogant, abusive, greedy and misogynistic man with no redeeming qualities. He was an abusive boss who exploited his workers by giving them unfair working conditions while he slacked off. He is shown to be manipulative while also being discouraging in order to lower other people's sense of self so he can feel better about himself.
He only became worse after the apocalypse where he would trap people in dangerous situations, then offer them help in exchange for serving him, where he becomes the tyrannical leader of a survival group.
He is perverted as he throws a fit when an unattractive older woman serves him beer and then demands a younger more sexy girl do it for him, so he can pervertedly stare at her chest.
When the zombies break into his base, he proves himself as nothing more than a coward who can't do anything and cries for help from other people. He breaks down in tears when his cohorts leave him out of losing respect for him.
