Biography[]
Goodwin Stanhope was sent by Benjamin Linus to the tail section of the plane crash Oceanic Flight 815 and make a list of the survivors. Shortly before arriving on the beach, he found Bernard Nadler stuck in a tree, so he asked the other Tailies for help. Goodwin then made a list of the all the "good" people as was ordered to, eventually other Others came invaded them and kidnapped some of the Tailies, including some children. Ana Lucia Cortez correctly suspected that there was an infiltrator among them, but she incorrectly thought Nathan was it due to a number of reasons.
This worked out for Goodwin but then Ana Lucia told him he was going to cut off his finger to make Nathan talk, making him worry not for his safety but that she might realize that he was innocent. So, Goodwin killed his scapegoat under the pretense that he was saving him and made it look like he escaped and went to the rest of the Others for backup. When the group find a bunker, the Arrow, there is a radio and Goodwin and Ana Lucia go to the top of a hill trying to get a signal. When they get there, however, Ana Lucia reveals that she already suspected that Goodwin was the real mole the past couple days because she remembered that he wasn't wet when he first appeared to them. Goodwin confesses that Nathan wasn't on the list because he wasn't a "good person", he also said that the children were safe but better off. Enraged, Ana Lucia attacked Goodwin and eventually impaled him with a stick.
Goodwin's corpse was found later by other people. It is implied that Ben sent Goodwin knowing he'd probably be killed because he had an affair with Juliet Burke.
Trivia[]
