“ | Bwa ha ha! I'm no ordinary Goomba... I am Goomboss, the Great Goomba, the Grand Poo-Bah Goomba. | „ |
~ The Goomba King in Super Mario 64 DS. |
Goomboss, also known as the Goomba King, is the mighty king of the Goombas, an ally of Bowser and a supporting antagonist in the Super Mario franchise.
Biography[]
Paper Mario[]
Sometime before Paper Mario, the Goomba King was made king of the Goombas by Bowser with the Star Rod, because he begged him. He lived in a castle on Goomba Road with his two minions, the Red and Blue Goomba. After Mario and Goombario defeat the Red and Blue Goombas, they come to the Goomba King's castle and all three of them challenge Mario. The Goomba King only has ten HP, Mario can hit a Goomnut Tree to easily take some his health and finish off the other Goombas immediately. After he is defeated, he runs back in his castle and Mario has to push a button that makes his castle unfold and launches him into the air to a mountain in the background. The Red and Blue Goomba stupidly hid the switch outside, the Goomba King tried to tell him not to press it but he was too late.
In the parade during the ending credits, the Goomba King is seen stuck upside down in a tree with the Red and Blue Goomba trying to get him out. He then falls out and walks away dizzily.
Super Mario 64 DS[]
He appears again as a boss where Yoshi must defeat him to free Mario. To defeat the Goomba King, Yoshi must eat the Goombas that the Goomba King spawns behind him and spit them back at him. After three hits, the Goomba King explodes into a swarm of Goombas.
Mario Kart DS[]
The Goomba King appears as the boss of the third level in the missions section. Toad must complete three laps around Baby Park before the Goomba King does. While in front of Toad, he may turn around to kick a Goomba at Toad (sometimes a mushroom instead). After each lap, the Goomba King grows in size and becomes faster. On the third lap, he will jump over the center divider. In addition, Toad must prevent all his balloons from getting popped during the race.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Durability: The Goomba King survived being sent flying several miles and landing in a tree without any injuries.
- Stomp: The Goomba King could walk up to Mario and stamp on him.
- Groundstomp: The Goomba King could jump and land with enough force to make flowers fall from the nearby trees and hurt Mario.
