~ Vedmire taunting Scanlan during their battle.

Duke Goran Vedmire is a supporting antagonist in the first campaign of the D&D web series Critical Role. He is a major antagonist in Episode 31, "Gunpowder Plot", Episode 35, "Denouement", and Episode 36, "Winter's Crest in Whitestone", as well as the first season of its animated adaptation The Legend of Vox Machina.

He was voiced by Rory McCann, who also played Sandor Clegane in Game of Thrones, Jurgen the Brutal in Jumanji: The Next Level and The Buyer in Knuckles.

Background[]

Vedmire was a mercenary under Lord & Lady Briarwood's employment. The two took him to Whitestone and assigned him as Duke when the couple asserted dominance over the town.

Critical Role[]

Stoke the Flames[]

Vox Machina's friend, Archibald Desnay informed the party of the New Nobles that were residing in Whitestone. Among them was Duke Vedmire, who was left in charge of the temple of Pelor, which fell apart. Vox Machina concocted a plan for Scanlan Shorthalt to distract Duke Vedmire and his minions while the rest went to find and kill Count Tylieri.

Gunpowder Plot[]

After Scanlan broke into the temple, Vedmire along with some of his minions attacked the gnome. Using a potion he stole, Scanlan teleported to the roof, setting it ablaze. Vedmire met him there and prepared to kill him, but Scanlan shoved him off the building with the use of his Bigby's Hand spell.

Denouement[]

After Silas and Delila were defeated, Duke Vedmire and Countess Jazna Graben were brought to Keeper Yennen for judgement. It was either execution or help rebuild the city. Goran wisely chose the latter option.

Winter's Quest in Whitestone[]

Some time after the Briarwoods were slain, there was a celebration which involved an arm wrestle competition. Two Whitestone guards presented Vedmire, now deposed as Duke, as their fighting proxy. Vedmire participated in two matches. He won his first match against a blacksmith, but lost his second to a quard named Trisha, who mocked him for his defeat.
