Gordon Godfrey, or simply Godfrey, was a major antagonist in the tenth and final season of Smallville.
He was portrayed by Michael Daingerfield, who also voiced Unicorn in Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Joe in Barbie & Her Sisters in the Great Puppy Adventure, Sesshomaru in Inuyasha: The Final Act, Krux in LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, and Johann Trinity in Mobile Suit Gundam 00.
Biography[]
Season 10[]
Godfrey is a small-time radio talk show host against illegal aliens with a small following. He later becomes a possessed human puppet for Darkseid to further his cause of corrupting humanity by making the people of Earth lose faith in their heroes, while improving Godfrey's image to the citizens of Metropolis as an anti-vigilante spokesperson.
As he attacked The Blur during a public press conference to promote his new book, Godfrey attracted the attention of Lois Lane, who learned that Godfrey was planning to expose the identity of Green Arrow.
When Godfrey attended an S&M club, Lois went undercover and took photos of him, which later tarnished Godfrey's reputation. Darkseid took complete control of Godfrey who then breaks free from restraints, with his voice changing to his darker tone as he approaches Lois intending to posses her body until he realizes that Lois is pure of heart. Lois grabbed a stun gun but Godfrey easily subdues her and his eyes turn black as Darkseid manifests completely within his body.
Channeling the essence of Darkseid, Godfrey explained his plans for Clark Kent to a bound and gagged Lois, before leaving her to suffocate to death. When Clark arrives to rescue Lois, a possessed Godfrey tries to take control of Clark's body, but is intervened by Kara Zor-El who manages drive away the darkness and save Lois' life.
Later, Godfrey (now a former vessel of Darkseid) returned in "Abandoned", and has been transformed into a "prophet". Godfrey is responsible for breaking the spirits of the people to prepare them for his master.
When Apokolips descended to Earth, he, Granny Goodness and Desaad had a meeting with the corrupted Oliver Queen. They commanded him to strip Clark of his powers by using a ring made of Gold Kryptonite, but Oliver is able to repel their influence much to Godfrey's shock. Oliver as Green Arrow vanquishes the unholy trio, turning Godfrey to smoke.
Season 11[]
Godfrey gave his Crime Bible book to career criminal Bruno Mannheim, who is now the head of Intergang and imprisoned at Stryker's Island, which turned him into a raving lunatic. Mannheim claims he has gone straight and that the Crime Bible changed his life.

- He was the first live-action version of Glorious Godfrey.
- Godfrey's mainstream counterpart is known to have a full head of red hair, but the Smallville version does not.
