Would you like to meet them, Mr. Vice President? Because if you keep using terms like "press conference", I can certainly arrange for them to come by and say hello to you to.
~ Gordon threatening Redfield to stay in line.
Gordon: Zadar's plane lands at 0400 at Joint Base Andrews. The car will be all set to go. He'll no longer be a problem.
Farr: I need confirmation as soon as it's done. I can't deal with anymore of your f-ckups, Gordon.
Gordon: [scoffs] 'Cause you're too busy dealing with your own?
Farr: Meaning what?
Gordon: How are things going in the West Wing with your pal, Michelle? POTUS has her hackles raised. What's gonna happen when she starts questioning you?
Farr: You let me worry about POTUS.
Gordon: You let me worry about Zadar.

Gordon Wick is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Ashley Redfield) of Season 1 of the Netflix action spy-thriller series The Night Agent.

He is the CEO of Turn Lake Industries and a government contractor who is the boss of assassins Ellen & Dale. He works with VP Ashley Redfield to orchestrate a public metro bombing in order to kill Omar Zadar and stage it as a terrorist attack, later looping in Diane Farr on the conspiracy.

He was portrayed by Ben Cotton, who also voiced Rex Igneous in The Dragon Prince, and portrayed Bishop in Scar 3D, and Michael Matthews in Riverdale.

Biography[]

Gordon Wick is a former Navy Seal who became the CEO of the government contracting company Turn Lake Industries. At some point, he became close allies with Vice President of the United States, Ashley Redfield. Wick is also the employer/boss of his assassins Dale & Ellen, who he has sent on assassinations for 8 years to expand his company, including in the Baltics region.

At some point, Redfield encounter a problem involving the leader of the People's Liberation Front, who is expected to become president in an unnamed Middle Eastern country. The leader is Omar Zadar, who is suspected of being accountable for several terrorist attacks and bombings in the past, but has apparently reformed in hopes of becoming president. His campaign is being endorsed by the U.S President, Michelle Travers, who hopes that as president, Zadar can help his country change from the vision of it's current totalitarian ruler.

Redfield is concerned that Zadar would be a president of the nation, as he believes Zadar to be a former terrorist, while this would affect Wick's business as he currently gets paid billions in military contracts by the nation's current dictator. Wick and Redfield then decide to orchestrate a metro bombing that would wipe out over two blocks of D.C and kill thousands to assassinate Zadar and stage it as a terrorist attack. To do so, Wick has his employee, Colin Worley, put a bomb on the train Zadar is on and have it blow up near a gas line under the city.

Fortunately, the bombing is stopped by Peter Sutherland, who manages the escort all the passengers on the train out, resulting in only 1 casualty instead of thousands. Learning of the plan failing, Gordon has his assassins kill Worley to cover up his tracks. Gordon and Redfield then use US Secretary of State Diane Farr and her relationship with President Travers to save themselves from being exposed. Seeking to have all witnesses and loose ends handled, Gordon orders the killings, and even tortures, of anyone who comes close to the truth of the bombing through his assassins Dale and Ellen, including the aunt and uncle of Rose Larkin, and their handler, FBI Deputy Director Jamie Hawkins.

However, it is revealed that Worley is alive because Wick's assassins ended up killing his twin brother, Matteo, instead of him, which Collin is furious about. To get revenge on the conspiracy group, Worley kidnaps Redfield's daughter and tries to coerce Redfield into confessing to his role in the D.C metro bombing, as well as to incriminate the rest of the group. Gordon threatens to have his assassins kill Redfield if he dares to expose them, even though Redfield promises he would avoid bringing up their names. Soon after, at his house, Ellen breaks in to threaten Wick as Dale was killed by Peter, which Ellen is grief-stricken over, but Wick says if she kills Colin Worley, he'll give her Peter's location. Soon after, Diane Farr gives Wick the green light to tell his assassin to kill Peter, Larkin, and even Redfield's daughter if she is a problem.

Redfield's daughter is saved, but this results in the death of his assasssin Ellen. In a meeting soon after, Gordon realizes that Farr cares too much about Travers and can't keep her in check, and convinces Redfield that they need to shut Farr out of their further plans. As such, Gordon convinces Redfield to plant a bomb at Camp David, where Zadar is meeting President Travers, killing everyone there, including Zadar, Travers, and tons of other agents, publicists, and other professionals, all so that when Travers is gone, Redfield can become president and issue pardons for him & Wick. Fortunately, Peter once again stops the bombing and saves everyone at Camp David. As a result, Redfield and Farr are arrested for their crimes. Meanwhile, Gordon gets on his private plane and presumably escapes the country to avoid consequences.

Personality[]

Gordon is an extremely ruthless & corrupt individual. He shows no concern over orchestrating a terrorist attack that would kill thousands of people, including women & children. He then attempts to kill hundreds at Camp David, including the President, so Redfield would become president and pardon Gordon for his crimes. And while Redfield is a genuine extremist, Wick is only doing these acts for the paychecks from Redfield and Zadar's political enemy. He also holds no loyalty to Redfield or Farr, as not only does he argue and threaten them occasionally, but Gordon is willing to kill or abandon them for his own means, as shown when he abandons Farr so she won't intervene in his next attack, and even when he escapes consequences and leaves both Farr & Redfield to their own fates.

Trivia[]

  • While Redfield & Farr were arrested for their crimes, Gordon secretly got on his plane to escape in case things didn’t turn out well. As said by the series' creator Shawn Ryan, "We liked the idea that this wasn't so clean. That there is one person who, because of his resources and everything, is able to slink away. Maybe we'll deal with him again in some way."
