Gorgona is one of the main antagonists of Dragon Quest: The Emblem of Roto. Originally a scientist in the kingdom of Mu, he summoned Imajin accidentally and accepted Imajin's trade with him.
Personality[]
Gorgona is utterly selfish and vile, willing to abandon anyone just for himself. He is also extremely cruel, purposely resurrecting Baramos in a half-rotten status to make sure he will be loyal to him. He also loves to play mind tricks, using illusions to attempt to break his enemies' mind.
Appearance[]
In his humanoid form, Gorgona is covered in a black cape, with six green eyes and red claws on his hands. In his true form, Gorgona is a giant red spider with black fur over his body.
Biography[]
Before the event of the manga, Gorgona was a scientist in the kingdom of Mu, he and his underlings studied immortality, eventually, with the cell from the Yggdrasil, they managed to create an undying body. Gorgona looked for a host of the body, and eventually, he summoned Imajin, who he gave the undying body to while being promised with having half of the world under his rule. Eventually, Imajin was defeated, so Gorgona and his scientists were banished to the underworld.
In the underworld, Gorgona and his minions did a trade with the lord of the underworld, which gave them immortality in the exchange of fusing with a giant spider, during the event of Dragon Quest III, Zoma sealed the godess Rubiss away, thus freeing Gorgona, who built a device to summon back Imajin's soul and helped him rebuilding his force. Imajin also had Gorgona to rise up Jagan, training him up to become a powerful warrior. Eventuall, Gorgona sent Jagan to kill his father, Jagan sucessed and learnt complete control over his blood.
Soon, after the defeat of Neqros, Gorgona was sent to dispatch Arus. Gorgona resurrected Baramos, but in order to make sure Baramos will be loyal to him, he resurrected him in a painful status, and told Baramos that he would give him his complete body if he succeeded in killing Arus. In the end, Baramos was slain, and Arus found Gorgona, angered by the latter's action, Arus attacked him and nearly got killed by Gorgona, but Arus managed to escape.
Soon, Imajin sent Gorgona and Dragonlord and released the sea king Leviathan. They easily defeated Pearl, the sea lord's fiancee and released Leviathan, but despite this, Leviathan was defeated by Arus as well.
Later, Jagan was ordered to obtain the Black Orb in the basement of Tantegel Castle, and Gorgona was present, watching Jagan obtaining the orb, however, it was eventually revealed that the orb is fake.
Eventually, Gorgona was sent to look for the real Black Orb, he witnessed a Blizzybody taking the Black Orb away from Asteea, thus acknowledging its location. Soon, Gorgona sent the monsters, lead by a baboon-like demon to fight the heroes, when the demon's minions were defeated, he told Gorgona about it, to where he told it that he was aware that the heroes would defeat them at the start and then killed the demon. He then resurrected the monsters despite they were mourning for their pain and begging for death, much to the disturb to the heroes. However, the guardians of Ramia successfully defeated the monsters, foiling Gorgona's plan.
The heroes then went to a magical lake to make the Sword of Arus, Gorgona tracked them down, and used illusions of Arus's friends dying to manipulate him into revealing the Black Orb's location, luckily, his friends arrived. Having no choice, Gorgona revealed his true form and battled them. While Gorgona had the advantage at first, his elder brother, Tao arrived and easily wounded Gorgona. He then abandoned his spider body and his scientists, causing their age to catch up to them, killing them. Gorgona tried to ambush Tao while he was talking, only for Tao to evade it and stroke him with a spell from above, instantly incinerating and killing Gorgona for good.
