The Four Deva Kings were a quartet of high-ranking Senate-Level Gorma who directly served Gorma Emperor XV as his elite soldiers and major antagonists in Gosei Sentai Dairanger.
They were played by Yoshinori Okamoto (East Heaven), Hideaki Kusaka (West Heaven), Daigaku Sekine (South Heaven), and Kiyokazu Inoue (North Heaven).
Biography[]
Past[]
As with all members of the Gorma, the Four Deva Kings were born in China under the Daos Empire as humans that could assume monster forms some 8000 years ago. Unlike the rest of the Gorma though, who could assume thier own monster forms, the Four Deva Kings operated in perfect unison as if they were one mind split across four bodies and could assume one very powerful combined monster form named the Combined Four Deva Kings.
When the Gorma Tribe declared war on the other two tribes of the Daos Empire, the Four Deva Kings were among the army that engaged in the war but they were defeated in battle when six members of the Dai Tribe become the Dairangers. Unlike the majority of the Gorma, the quartet survived the war but were banished into space with Gorma XV and the rest of the Senate in the Gorma Palace.
Dairanger[]
In 1993, after multiple failed attempts by the Gorma Triumvirate to destroy the Dairangers, Gorma Emperor XV brings the Gorma Palace to Earth.
Shortly after the death of the Fast-Talking Wanderer, Gorma XV grants Shadam use of the Gorma Four Deva Kings in his battles against the Dairangers. Whilst Kou pursues Akomaru to find thier mother and Shoji is attacked by the Three Gorma Stooges, the Deva Kings ambush the Dairangers as they leave a cinema. After a brief fight, they use their illusions to trap the Dairangers along with (Kujaku, Demon-Fist Master Jin Matoba, the Three Gorma Stooges, and Akomaru) individually. However. Ryo saves them by destroying Toupouten's staff tip so the Four Deva Kings combine and drop a Growth Bomb to enlarge. They summon the Mythical Chi Beasts and form RyuseiOh and Kiba DaiOh but are overwhelmed until the former uses its Windmill Kick to knock him flat. Kiba DaiOh then finishes Combined Four Deva Kings with the Flying Sword; Smash To Atoms finisher.
However, the Four Deva Kings survive and try to kill the Dairangers by using mind control masks to turn innocent people against them. However, the Super Qi-Power Bazooka is able to neutralize the masks so they fuse again only to be blasted off of a building by the Super Qi-Power Bazooka. Despite this, they use another Growth Bomb which explodes on impact and they grow once more. The Dairangers form the RyuseiOh and Won Tiger but he immediately blasts them so they again form KibaDaiOh and fire the Smash to Atoms Finisher. However, Combined Four Deva Kings (having encountered this before) knocks it back at the Chi Beasts which wipes both out. With thier strongest formation defeated, the Dairangers are helpless until thier friend Kameo finds his own Mythical Jewel to become Daimugen. However, Combined Four Deva Kings manages to topple Daimugen which prompts him to cross his arms and cackle at it so RyuseiOh is forced to salvage the situation by flipping Daimugen back upright. Unfortunately, Combined Four Deva Kings charges and delivers a beat-down to RyuseiOhwho then grabs and throws her but he lands on her feet and blasts down the Chi Beast. Daimugen then becomes Super Mythical Qi Warrior Daimugen and sends blasts right at Combined Four Deva Kings who is unfazed. RyuseiOh then enters Daimugen's shell and the monster fires at it but its thick armor means that neither Beast is fazed which allows it to re-energize RyuseiOh. The Rangers then form the new Heavy Armor Qi Palace with Combined Four Deva Kings prepares to deflect the blasts from. However, the Heavy Armor Chi Palace flies into the air with the aid of RyuseiOh's Mythical Qi Flying Dragon Rod. It then stops spinning its staff and the Palace plummets out of the sky, crushing Combined Four Deva Kings to an explosive death via the Great Death Crush. This time, there was no coming back and the threat posed by this elite group was ended for good.
Personality[]
The Gorma Four Deva Kings were intensely loyal to the Gorma Emperor but very rarely spoke aside from grunts. Even Combined Four Deva Kings spoke mostly in deep laughs. As individual beings, the Deva Kings operated in absolute unity and even walked in perfect unison whilst slamming thier staffs at the same times.
Powers and Abilities[]
Gorma Four Deva Kings[]
- Teleportation: The Gorma Four Deva Kings could jump cut into existence.
- Instant Teleportation: Hoppouten was able to instantly jump-cut around Rin's slashes.
- Illusions: The Gorma Four Deva Kings were able to generate illusions of the Three Gorma Stooges, Kujaku and Jin Matoba.
- Illusion Imprisonment: The Gorma Four Deva Kings were able to trap the Dairangers in a black void.
- Lightning Blast: Saihouten could spew white lightning from his mouth at Ryo to lift him into the air and fry him.
- Giant Head Blast: Hoppouten was able to generate a giant illusion of his head to exhale and blow Rin away.
- Weapons Combat: The Gorma Four Deva Kings were able to overwhelm four Dairangers with just thier staffs.
- Combination: By joining hands and walking in a circle, followed by slamming down thier staffs and shouting "Four Heavens Fusion!", they could fuse together in a cloud of purple energy into Combined Four Deva Kings.
Weaknesses[]
- Staff Destruction: When Touhouten's staff tip was destroyed, they and the Dairangers returned to reality.

- Staffs: The Gorma Four Deva Kings used large stylised staffs in battle.
Combined Four Deva Kings[]
- Strength: Combined Four Deva Kings was strong enough to knock back the Smash to Atoms attack with one swing of his staff and rip apart a building with one staff swing.
- Durability:Combined Four Deva Kings was repeatedly kicked in the face by RyuseiOh's Windmill Kick and KibaDaiOh's Smash To Atoms finisher made him explode but survived.
- Depth Perception: Combined Four Deva Kings was able to see properly and had normal depth perception despite having eight eyes.
- Skilled Fighter: Combined Four Deva Kings was able to overwhelm RyuseiOh and Kiba DaiOh in close quarters combat with amazing ease.
- Agility: Combined Four Deva Kings was able to be thrown to the ground by RyuseiOh but manage to land on his feet.
Arsenal[]
- Staff: Combined Four Deva Kings carried around a massive black walking stick like staff which she used to club her enemies with.
- Deflection: Combined Four Deva Kings was able to knock back the Smash to Atoms attack with a single swing of her staff.
- Lightning Blasts: Combined Four Deva Kings could fire a sold green beam of energy from her staff which was strong enough to knock back RyuseiOh with one blast.
- Growth Bombs: Combined Four Deva Kings used two Growth Bombs hidden on its back to grow on two different occasions.
