Gosoythoth, also known as the Reaper of the Abyss, is a major antagonist and boss fight in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact serving as the main antagonist of the Natlan Archon Quests and the overarching antagonist of the Sunspray Summer Resort quest
It is an abyssal entity leading the invasion on Natlan that manifests after its minions extinguished the Sacred Flame. It seeks to engulf the entire nation of Natlan in corruption and is by far one of the most monstrous entities of the Abyss yet.
Profile[]
Gosoythoth is an entity with an indescribable form, manifested from the immense power of the Abyss when the Sacred Flame was extinguished. It's presence alone painted the sky black and brought forth the unending calamity that befell Natlan.
It's capable of raining down Abyss Tumors that spawn Abyssal Pylons, summoning countless abyssal creatures from in its wake. It also capable of mimicry as the Tenebrous Mimiflora and Papilla, being able to resume the alternate form to imitate an enemy. Gosoythoth was able to assume the form of Xiuhcoatl, the Pyro Sovereign.

- Power of the Abyss: Being the abyssal entity, it shouldn't be a surprise that it can harness the power of the void.
- Leyline Extraction
- Abyssal Corruption & Infestation: It can summon the Abyssal Tumors by raining down to Natlan environment.
- Mimicry
- Dark Form Mimicry: Gosoythoth can assume the form of the deceased Pyro Sovereign Xiuhcoatl named Lord of Eroded Primal Fire in its boss fight.
- Voice Mimicry: It can use a voice of friends and family of people it fights to say something very despairing, to make their enemy fall into despair and succumb to the Abyss.
- Intelligence: Gosoythoth is far from mindless. While being capable of summoning Abyssal Creatures by raining the Abyssal Tumors towards Natlan, it also capable of mimicking the voices of the dead Natlan people, such as the previous Pyro Archons to crush people's hopes by taunting them.
Abilities[]
- Lord of Eroded Primal Fire: As mentioned above it assume the form of Xiuhcoatl to fight Mavuika. In this form, it can wield up to two swords and its abyssal power will grant wings upon reaching threshold.
- Attrition: Some of The Lord of Eroded Primal Fire's attacks (Indicated with dark purple color) inflict the debuff attrition when hit the active character (The debuff Ignore the shields). The active character will lose their HP equal 1% to 50 after short delay.
- Void Ward: The Lord of Eroded Primal Fire may occassionally summons void ward to grant itself damage protection. Dealing many elemental damages or few nightsoul-infused attacks may reduce the void ward's durability until it shatters, dealing damage to Gosoythoth.
- Orbs of Abyssal Flame: Summons 4 Abyssal Orbs to deal damage to the active character.
- Burning Cleave: Gosoythoth swings the fire sword and deals pyro damage by either single slash, double slashes, or downward cleave and leaving some burnt grounds.
- Wave Blast: Inserts its sword to the ground and unleashing burning waves while gaining the void ward. Before throwing an Orb of Abyssal Flame.
- Dark Fog: Occassionally engulfs the arena by summoning a dark fog to obscure the vision of the players.
- Summon Abyssal Mimiflora: After obscuring the arena with dark fog, Gosoythoth summons at least 3 Tenebrous Mimifloras with void ward to attack player.
- Black Hand of Doom: After some time, marks the player an area of incoming attack that it summons a large hand that will emerge from the ground to attack the active character.
- Abyssal Rain: Summons a rain of abyssal fire to rain down on random locations. Afterwards, Lord of Eroded Primal Fire destroys a part of the boss arena to reduce the player available space up to 3 times. Lord of Eroded Primal Fire will enter the second phase for the first time using this attack.
- Dual Wielding (Flame Sword + Abyssal Sword): The Lord of Eroded Primal Fire wields two swords in second phase. It can occasionally perform lunging slashes.
- Darkflame Implosion: The Lord of Eroded Primal Fire will stab its swords to the floor and dealing pyro and abyssal damage.
- Darkflame Beam: After that, it will fire dark beam from its mouth and sweeps the arena twice.
- Dual Sword Slashes: Swings flaming sword horizontally and then abyssal sword vertically. Afterwards, the Lord of Eroded Primal Fire will perform an X-Shaped Slash.
- Darkscale Shower: Fire a barrage of scales from its wings to deals damage and inflicts attrition by each projectile hits on the active character.
- Cloudform: After performing 2 lunging slashes, the Lord of the Eroded Primal Fire will teleport out and transforms into a cloud form and causes eruption in random locations. After that, it will return and performs another 2 lunging slashes.
- Annihilate: Gains Void Ward to itself and begins channeling abyssal energy with its swords to deal immense damage to the active character.
- Starscourge: Spawns a vortex to pull the active character into the center of the boss arena before summoning 3 Nightsoul Totems to prepare the most devastating AOE attack. If the 3 Nightsoul Totems weren't destroyed in time, Gosoythoth turns itself as a meteor that deals massive AOE damage and 60 stacks of attrition, effectively killing most active characters in one-shot. This attack can only be used once in battle.
- Nightsoul Totems: After spawning Dark Vortex, spawns three totems with void wards, that can be destroyed to interrupt Gosoythoth's most devastating attack. It periodically deals abyssal damage to trapped characters and inflicts stacks of attrition. Destroying a Nightsoul Totem will instantly recharge energy for party members into full to perform elemental burst. This attack can only be used once in battle.

- Gosoythoth is an anagram of Yog-Sothoth, an Outer-God from Lovecraftian Mythology that is Omniscient and is Archetype of all existence, The Supreme Being alongside Azathoth who is Omnipotence.
- This is not the first adaptation of Yog-Sothoth from Mihoyo. First adaptation of Yog-Sothoth is reference only characters in Gun Girl Z. Just like original version, she alongside other Outer-Gods who exist outside Universe (call Imaginary Tree in HI3 and HSR). She holds multiple universes in her palm, so she presumebly can created and destroy many universes as she wants, making her presumebly The Supreme Being of Hoyoverse.
