Gospel, known as Grave in the anime and manga, is a mysterious Netmafia and criminal group that emerged after World Three's first apparent demise and the main antagonists of Mega Man Battle Network 2.

History[]

Gospel was founded by a young boy named Sean Obihiro and emerged some time after the defeat of W3, beginning a campaign of terrorism on the Net.

While initially appearing to only be focused on perpetrating random acts of wanton destruction across the net, it is later revealed that Gospel's true plan is to re-create the ultimate NetNavi, Bass.EXE, and use bug fragments to make a large army of Bass Navis with which they could use to take over the world. In response to Gospel's attacks, Lan and MegaMan tracked Gospel's HQ to an apartment infested with enough radiation to muddy the boundaries between the real world and the cyber world.

Lan and MegaMan fight their way through Gospel Navi copies until they reach Gospel's main server room on the top floor, where they confront the Gospel Leader and fight Bass.EXE. However, Gospel's recreation of Bass.EXE was imperfect and thus less powerful than the original. Gospel attempted to increase Bass's power by overloading the NetNavi with energy, resulting in Bass mutating into the Bug Beast Gospel.

After the defeat of the Bug Beast, Gospel's leader, revealed as Sean Obihiro, is taken into custody and the organization is presumably shut down. It is revealed after Gospel's defeat that Sean was secretly being controlled by Lord Wily and that Gospel were simply pawns in his plan to recreate Bass.EXE and W3.
