Governor Augustus Thomas is the main antagonist of the 2023 science fiction novel, Citadel. He is the corrupt and self-serving governor who leads the city of Citadel, seeking to wipe out the Chimeras, who they view as demons. He’s the father and arch enemy of Riley Thomas.
History[]
Augustus was born into a 4th generation family of governors of Citadal. His family’s greed and waste have led the city to have a severe lack of resources. During his youth he married a woman named Mia, and made her abandon her dream of a music career to provide for their family. After she gave birth to their son Riley, who was born very sick, he considered throwing him down the Wall to drown in the ties. Mia talked him out of it, hoping for another child, but Mia couldn’t have any more children. During Riley's childhood, when he felt Riley was misbehaving, he would often threaten that he would have him thrown down the Wall, if his mother wasn’t so attached to him. Augustus oversaw when Sarai Hall was tried for being the author of the newsletter The Blue Lotus that criticised the faith and was viewed to have been promoting heresy
