~ The Governor of Del Mar to Puss in Boots. |
The Governor of Del Mar is a minor antagonist in DreamWorks' 43rd full-length animated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, a spin-off of the Shrek franchise. He is the corrupt governor of the city of Del Mar.
He was voiced by Bernardo de Paula, who also voiced Le Chevre in Carmen Sandiego.
Biography[]
The city of Del Mar was ruled over by an oppressive governor, who apparently treated his people poorly. At some point, the governor decided to take a vacation elsewhere with all of his guards accompanying him, leaving the town defenseless. However, the legendary outlaw Puss in Boots arrived and became the town's hero.
When the governor returned home, he was shocked to find his mansion ruined by the people throwing a party in Puss' honor. Upon seeing the outlaw, the governor ordered his guards to kill him and apprehend everyone-else present. However, Puss easily defeats the guards in a sword fight, and when the governor attempts to attack Puss himself, the outlaw retaliates by cutting up his wig and clothes, humiliating him. The governor once again orders his men to murder Puss, but the feline sets off a stack of fireworks, forcing him and his men into retreat. The fireworks then end up awakening the Sleeping Giant of Del Mar from its slumber, attacks the mansion and kidnaps several people, including the governor himself, who begs for Puss to save him, which he does.
In the movie's finale, the governor planned to take another vacation overseas, only to find that his ship had been stolen by Puss in Boots, accompanied by his companions, Kitty Softpaws and Perrito, who sail away to meet with Puss' friends in the land of Far Far Away.
