Goyan is the overarching antagonist of the anime series Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash★Star.
He is a mysterious creature appearing as one of Akudaikan's evil cohorts. He is a short, reptilian character who will openly taunt Akudaikan's other subordinates and seems to enjoy making them angry, as shown by how much he taunts and mocks Karehan during his attempts to defeat Pretty Cure. Ms. Shitataare calls him Go-chan. However, he is later revealed to be the true creator of the Dark Fall and Akudaikan, and the true mastermind behind the events of the series.
He was voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa.
Appeareance[]
Goyan resembles a frog/toad-like figure dressed in dark Chinese-like outfits with long white sleeves, red slit eyes, and sandals with socks. He normally poses as if he holds a cane. This is ultimately revealed to be just a facade; his true form is that of a giant, muscular, green-skinned humanoid being with white hair and a single horn and black pants.
Personality[]
Goyan initially appears as a jovial old man who is utterly loyal to Akudaikan, but is secretly proactive and helps other villains, even giving them advice to defeat the Cures. He also likes to taunt others and see them getting angry. However, he also shows to be benevolent to his minions, such as Kintoleski and Moerumba.
Ultimately, said personality of Goyan is all an act. He starts to show his true colors when he brings Michiru and Kaoru back to Dark Fall while they are redeeming themselves and seemingly kills them. Afterwards, he also captures and tortures Flappy and Chippy for information, showing that Goyan is a sadist underneath his seemingly comedic facade.
In actuality, Goyan is a psychopathic monster who is the true creator and leader of Dark Fall. As a being who has existed since before the universe and remembers how peaceful it was, he hates all forms of life and his true goal is to destroy the entire universe to return to that nothingness. He ultimately doesn't care about his underlings at all, as he happily kills Akudaikan once the latter is no longer useful, and drops all the pretense altogether in the final battle.
Biography[]
Goyan was a mysterious being who has existed since before the universe was even born, and enjoyed the silence back then. When the universe and its life were born, Goyan viewed it as abhorrent and sought to destroy it so that he could return to that silence. To this end, he created the Dark Fall and the demon Akudaikan as its figurehead while he led it in secret. Unaware of Goyan's true role within Dark Fall, the other members often laughed at him.
Goyan would then have the Dark Fall search for the Fountain of Sun hidden in the Land of Fountains. Because of this, Saki Hyuuga and Mai Mishou are transformed into Cure Bloom and Cure Egret to stop them. Goyan often acts as the protector and advisor to the other members of the Dark Fall, all while mocking both them and his enemies to annoy them. When Michiru and Kaoru are redeeming themselves, Goyan takes them back to Dark Fall and seemingly kills them, before capturing and torturing Flappy and Choppy for information.
In episode 47, the Cures go back to Dark Fall to confront Akudaikan and defeat him. It is at this point that Goyan kills Akudaikan and reveals that he was the one who has created Akudaikan and the one behind Dark Fall. He then transforms into a gigantic monster and turns Earth into a wasteland. The Cures then battle Goyan, who attempts to destroy Earth, but is eventually defeated by Pretty Cure's Spiral Heart Splash Star. He attempts to grab Bloom and Egret so as to take them with him but the girls manage to stay away. Before fading away, he tells them that their powers are like the time that life began in the universe.
