Gozo Hatamoto

Gozo Hatamoto was the main antagonist of the Detective Conan/Case Closed two-part episode Luxury Liner Serial Murder Case (Smooth Sailing in the dub). He was the head of the Hatamoto clan and the director of the Hatamoto group director. However, an event that occurred revealed himself as a hidden antagonist.

He was voiced by Yonehiko Kitagawa.

Biography

Gozo made his first appearance when he yelled at his son-in-law Kitaro for allow non-family members onto their boat (which consist of Conan, Ran and Kogoro) and warns them to keep them away from them, followed by insulting his grandson and his drawings and head back inside.

Later in his room, he called the newly married Takeshi Hatamoto into his cabin, who informs him that he knew who he really is and believed that he did this to get revenge on his father for what Gozo did to him, even yelling at him to speak up. Later while the family, along with Conan and the others are about to have dinner, it was revealed that Gozo hate Detectives, which made it uncomfortably for Kogoro and Conan. During dinner Kenji, the butler arrived to found Gozo dead, which Resulted in Kogoro (in one of his fail deductions) that Gozo was killed by an intruder, but when a flower was found on the floor next to Gozo room, Natsue recognize it as the flower she gave to Takeshi, who was believed to be the killer, but Mariko (who was revealed to be listening to the conversion between Gozo and Takeshi) revealed that Takeshi real name is Takeshi Zaiki, whose family business was taken over 10 years ago by the Hatamoto business and that they believed he married into the family so he could kill Gozo. While denying the claim, Takeshi was then taken into a storage room and left there until they arrived on land.

As the family, along with Conan, Ran and Kogoro are waiting in the dinner, Kenji revealed that Gozo wrote a will stating that the money, the estate and business will be given to his youngest grandchild; Natsure, which led to the other family member in horror to learn what happened (including Tatsuo, Who revealed that he married into the family just for the money and became enraged upon learning that he will get nothing, with his wife upset learning about this).

Later after the death of Tatsu Hatamoto and the attempted murder on Ichiro, via stabbed to the leg, Conan discovered who was killer was and knocking out Kogoro, revealed the true killer being Ichiro, However his mother tried defend him and said that her own son wouldn't kill his grandfather, but Conan revealed a piece of evidence, a breadcrumbs which was used as an eraser when Ichiro draws with charcoal. However, his mother still refuses to believe that her son is the killer and not Takeshi, but when Conan revealed another piece of evidence, which is a sketch book and inside of it is charcoal drawings of Natsure, which he ran and grabbed hold onto. With his mother now horrified to learn the truth, Ichrio revealed that he was in love with his cousin and wanted to marry her but Gozo (who is revealed as the hidden villain) refuse to let him marry her do to not having any direction in life and instead announce the marriage between Nature and Takeshi. This led to Ichrio to come up with the plan to kill his grandfather and framing Takeshi for preventing him from marrying his cousin.
