Christopher Boyer, also known as Graham Garrett and The Chameleon, was the main villain in the WB series Smallville episode "Fade" from the Fifth Season.

He was a metahuman who could become invisible willingly, which allowed him to be successful in his line of work as an assassin.

He was portrayed by Alex Scarlis.

History[]

Early life[]

Graham Garret was driving through Smallville during the 2005 meteor shower and was exposed to meteor rocks, gaining the power of invisibility. Using this new ability, Graham became an extremely successful assassin.

Fade[]

In Metropolis, a witness was escorted by the police to a courtroom, while Graham Garrett is staring at them, across the street preparing to kill the witness. However, a car was about to charge him, but Clark Kent, who was talking with Chloe on the way to the Daily Planet, used his super-speed to save Graham. The man then gave thanks to Clark and later rushes to enact his plan, to which Clark and Chloe weren't aware of.

When the witness and the police arrive at the courtroom, the police leave him in a room where he would take off his bulletproof vest and dress adequately, but when he was putting on a necktie, Graham appears and strangles him with the necktie, murdering him, and then he fades with his power. An alarm sounds, but when the police open the room, they found the witness dead, but the murderer was nowhere to be found. Graham joined the crowd outside the door.

Later, a plasma TV was gifted to Clark, and Lois plays on it until Clark and Martha arrive. They were curious about how did that TV arrives there. Clark suggests it could be from Lionel Luthor, but Martha doesn't believe it. He would later send the TV back to the store and Martha called Lionel, who confirmed he had nothing to do with the TV.

Clark went to the Daily Planet, where Chloe tells him that the star witness died, showing him the newspaper. Clark then tells her about the mysterious TV and asked her to pull up all the reports of TV plasma sales, which she agrees. Chloe suspects Lionel, but Clark tells her that Lionel claimed he didn't gift the TV. Chloe then suggests that Lex was the one who gave them the TV because he felt guilty, almost revealing Lana and Lex's romance. Clark then goes to talk with him but saw him kissing with Lana.

Lois was on the phone persuading with the Senator to vote for Martha and doing sit-ups at the same time, while Graham appears and scares her. Then, the man says he is a friend of Clark and reveals himself as the one who sent the plasma TV. He doesn't understand why Clark sent back his gift. She invites him to stay there and wait for Clark.

When Clark learns about Lana and Lex's romance, he confronted Chloe for hiding him that secret and later went to mourn at his loft. There, Graham reveals to him that he gave him the TV as a gift for saving his life, and tries to convince him to accept a gift, but Clark is confirmed with thanks. Finally, Graham manages to convince him to go to dinning with him in Metropolis. After arriving at Graham's apartment, Clark is surprised to find a party. Graham then tells him that he is a headhunter.

It is revealed that Lois was Graham's date. Graham leads Clark out of the balcony, where he meets Gia and tries to seduce Clark, but the latter learns that Graham set them up. When Clark is going outside, Graham stops him, apologizes about Gia and offers to get him and Lana together again. At the Luthor Mansion, Lex is on the phone with Milton Fine, unaware that he is being watched. Graham suddenly appears and strangles Lex with a rope.

Just as Lex is about to die, Lana enters and Graham disappears. Clark went to the hospital where Lana described the assailant who strangled Lex and tells him the man seemed to vanish. The description fits Graham perfectly. Lois is at the Talon pouring excessive amounts of sugar into her coffee when Graham arrives. Even though he was thought to be leaving town, he invites Lois to go with him to a Coldplay concert in Chicago. Lois insists she'd be just as happy with a simpler date, but she agrees to go to the concert.

Accusingly, Clark confronts Graham in his apartment for Lex's attempted murder. After threatening to take him to the police, Clark easily shatters a statue Graham tries to hit him with, revealing his powers. Still holding the broken statue, Graham renders himself invisible and leaves the apartment. At the Daily Planet, Chloe and Clark discover Graham is The Chameleon and was responsible for the murder at the courthouse.

Which happened right after Clark saved Graham's life. Clark is determined to stop him, but Chloe warns him that Graham might know his weakness. Secretly, Graham is watching the entire conversation. Graham went to the Talon apartment where Lois was taking a shower while he secretly stalked her. Lois then saw Clark at her door who warns her that Graham is there, but Lois was irritated. Clark follows Graham's heartbeat downstairs and sees Graham exit the Talon. He tries to super speed up to Graham, but Graham is holding a meteor rock. After confirming he is a meteor freak, he tells Clark that he must be eliminated along with Lex and Lana.

While Lois is getting ready for her date with Graham, Chloe enters the Talon apartment, alerting Lois that Graham is a professional hitman. Lois didn't believe her, but even so, she follows Chloe outside to look for Clark. They found Clark unconscious, buried underneath some construction with a meteor rock. Chloe throws the rock away and he awakens and warns them that Graham is going after Lex and Lana.

At the hospital, Lex and Lana were in his room when suddenly the guard outside collapses and the door opens but no one was there. Lex grabs the gun by his bedside and blindly fires into the room. He gets knocked out and Graham reappears, bleeding from a gunshot wound. Just as Graham shot at Lex and Lana, Clark uses his super-speed and catches the bullet. Graham collapses and dies from his wounds.
